Friday is the first day of Summer, and it will offer the longest daylight of the year. Pagans of the Earth will be celebrating at ancient sites, so that means they won’t be bothering your local exotic car dealer. On Saturday, the sun begins moving south again, and we lose a few seconds of daylight. This precious commodity shouldn’t be wasted, so we have seven stunning convertibles for Summer 2019.
Ferrari 488 Spider
While Ferrari did build a few examples of the LaFerrari Aperta, the 488 Spider is a little more attainable. It also makes for a great daily driver, capable of 22 mpg on the highway. A 3.9L V8 and twin turbos combine to make 660 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque.
Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster
No two letters mean more to Lamborghini fans. SV is the abbreviation for Super Veloce, or Super Fast in English. The Aventador is not slow by any means, but they found more power and better aerodynamics in this limited edition model. A screaming 6.5L V12 sends 730 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. Rear wheel steering offers incredible maneuvering and amazing grip.
McLaren 570S Spider
Before we plan an event, I always hope to get seat time in a 570S Spider. The Sports Series suspension and exposed carbon fiber are the best features anyone could ask for. With a dry weight of 2,996 lbs, it punches above its weight class thanks to 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.
Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series Cabriolet
Because each Exclusive Series is built by hand, everything is perfect. The seats are stitched by hand, and the white gold badges are cast and painted by a Goldsmith. Even the carbon fiber wheels are assembled by a dedicated team, and they receive 607 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. All Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Steering is standard, as is every other Porsche 911 performance and luxury option. Only 50 convertibles were built for the U.S., so this needs to be the centerpiece of your collection.
Audi R8 Spyder
Not only does it look amazing, it shares the same beating heart of the Lamborghini Huracan. A few first-generation Spyders were built with six-speed sticks, so do your part and save the manuals. The 2020 model offers 610 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. A 5-layer cloth top is well insulated against sound and heat, and the R8 is one of the most reliable exotics ever built.
Bentley Continental GT
It has been a long time since Bentley delivered an all-new Continental GT. The wait was worth it because this stunner includes 48V active body control coupled to the smoothest suspension on the road. The engine is an all-new 6.0L twin turbo W12 sends 626 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque to all wheels. Because it can disable multiple cylinders, it is rated at 23.9 mpg on the highway.
A brand that needs no introduction, the Dawn is a perfect combination of wood, polished metal, carbon fiber, and dual umbrellas. Technology and power are supplied by their owners at BMW, and the twin-turbo V12 is good for 563 horsepower and 605 lb-ft of torque.
