Bentley Motors Achieves Carbon Neutral Certification

Bentley Motors has become the first luxury automotive factory in the United Kingdom to achieve a PAS 2060 Carbon Neutral certification by the Carbon Trust, meaning all of the electricity used to power the Crewe, England factory headquarters is sourced from on-site solar panels and green electricity.

Bentley is working diligently toward becoming the world’s most sustainable luxury automotive manufacturer. Steps have been taken to reduce the carbon emitted by its factory, utilizing renewable electricity and offsetting any emissions that cannot be eliminated with Gold Standard carbon credits. The company installed 10,000 solar panels earlier this year in addition to its 20,815 panels that were already fitted. The total output is enough to power more than 1,750 homes.

The world’s leading independent certification unit for carbon footprints, Carbon Trust, certified Bentley Motors as reaching the ISO 14001 environmental management standard in 1999, and then the PAS 2060 certification standard this year.
