BMW is once again making automotive history with its newest design concept, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse. Scheduled for its first public unveiling at the IAA Mobility 2023 International Motor Show in Munich, this groundbreaking vehicle marks a bold step into BMW’s electric and sustainable future. According to Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, the Neue Klasse concept is the brand’s key to staying “two steps ahead of the future,” aiming to hit the roads by 2025.
The exterior of the Vision Neue Klasse showcases a clear, elegant, and timeless design, accentuated by iconic elements like the BMW kidney grille and the Hofmeister kink. Inside, the next-gen BMW iDrive system promises a unique digital user experience, seamlessly integrating real and virtual worlds. Frank Weber, a member of BMW’s Board responsible for Development, noted that the Neue Klasse represents a significant technological leap, boasting 30% more range, 30% faster charging, and 25% more efficiency.
The concept also emphasizes sustainability through its manufacturing process, which makes extensive use of secondary raw materials and sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. This technological expertise translates to a 25% increase in overall vehicle efficiency, setting new standards for BMW’s EfficientDynamics. Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, succinctly put it, “The design of the Neue Klasse is typically BMW and so progressive it looks like we skipped a model generation.”
BMW’s Vision Neue Klasse is not just an exercise in automotive design; it’s a full-fledged commitment to ushering in a new era of electric, digital, and sustainable individual mobility. Whether it’s the resource-efficient production, advanced eDrive technology, or interactive human-car interfaces like BMW Panoramic Vision, the Neue Klasse concept exemplifies BMW’s strategy to redefine the ultimate driving machine.
