The announcement of the Bugatti Bolide in 2020 was exciting because it represented the most extreme potential of Bugatti’s incredible W16-powered hypercar, with a lightweight and incredibly dynamic track-only setup with a design that looks nothing short of radical and amazingly futuristic. With nearly 1,600 horsepower and a weight of under 3,200 pounds, it achieves better than the incredible 1:1 power-to-weight ratio in horsepower to kilograms.
Only 40 examples of the Bolide will be made, but as we’ve seen with the 10-example Centodieci, that doesn’t stop Bugatti from putting its rarest cars through intense testing, and a new prototype Bolide finished in raw carbon fiber is front and center in the race car’s latest phase of development and testing. With a new carbon fiber monocoque and changes to the suspension, transmission, and engine to make the four turbochargers constantly active, the Bolide’s character is transformational compared to Bugatti’s other hypercars, and as such, Bugatti has undergone an incredible amount of effort to make sure it is the best that it can be. The 40 examples of the Bugatti Bolide, each priced at roughly $4.4 million, will begin to be delivered in 2024.
