For fans of the British manufacturer, it’s mind-blowing to witness what Lotus has become in recent years. Many celebrated it throughout its history for its agile, lightweight road cars, handling expertise that it lent to other manufacturers throughout the industry, and its passionate core of enthusiast drivers.
However, the introduction of the groundbreaking and unfathomably powerful all-electric Evija marked the fanfare-filled introduction of a new, electric era for Lotus, and the Eletre SUV followed. Now, Lotus has yet another new model on the horizon: the Emeya.
The Emeya is said to be Lotus’s first all-electric hyper-GT, which suggests that while it will likely be a performance car, it will also have the luxury and practicality level of something that is suitable for long, enjoyable drives.
The teaser film that Lotus accompanied its announcement with gives some small hints at the coupe silhouette of the Emeya, as well as its retractable spoiler, and shows three people walking towards the car, suggesting rear seat room, which any Lotus fan would know is a far cry from much of what Lotus offered in the past.
More details about the new Lotus Emeya are going to be revealed on September 7, which is quickly approaching. Rather than provide a three-digit “Type” code number, as Lotus has done with many of its anticipated models, Lotus has now revealed the name of the upcoming Emeya and prepares to dive even further into the electric chapter of its celebrated performance history.
