A charming sports car icon celebrates a diamond anniversary.
Morgan Motor Company is known for its classic-inspired sports cars with vintage charm and timeless driving pleasure. However, the Plus Four, one of the most important and iconic models from Morgan, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. First unveiled in 1950, the Plus Four is one of the longest-running nameplates in the automotive industry, and it’s always represented lightweight, driver-focused fun with traditional coachbuilding techniques and modern engineering excellence.
In addition to being known as a unique, classic-inspired sports car icon, the Morgan Plus Four, previously stylized as Plus 4, is also known for its unique configurations and vast palette of choices for its finishes. Accordingly, Morgan is celebrating the anniversary of the Plus Four by offering its customers the next 75 unique Plus Four configurations any choice of exterior color, interior leather color, carpet, hood, and wing beading. To commemorate the special configurations, each of those cars will feature a special 75-year rear badge, and pricing will start at £75,000 in the UK.
Towards the beginning of its legacy, the Morgan Plus 4 achieved an important class victory at the 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans, helping kick off decades of legacy, pedigree, and celebration for the sports car icon. Today, the CX-generation Morgan Plus Four features a BMW turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, keeping the tradition of the original’s two-liter four-cylinder engine, but now with various driving modes and modern engineering innovations. A nearly limitless palette of colors and finishes means that, in addition to driving excellence and fun, owners can enjoy personal expression and tailored luxury with the Morgan Plus Four, which has remained one of the most charming sports car icons in the automotive industry for an incredible 75 years.
