The Pininfarina Battista is quite a creation, and its stunning looks are just the beginning of its splendor. The all-electric “hyper GT” boasts incredible engineering and performance that renders it not only one of the world’s fastest electric cars but one of the world’s fastest cars full-stop. To celebrate not only the Battista’s excellence, but that of the history of the Pininfarina name and automotive history in general, a new special and highly limited edition of the Battista will be making a dynamic global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year: the Battista Edizione Nino Farina.
It’s named after Nino Farina, born in 1906 in Turin, Italy, who was the nephew of Carrozzeria Pininfarina’s founding Battista “Pinin” Farina. However, his connection to automotive history doesn’t stop there. His uncle opened the doors to the world of motorsport for Nino, and he would go on in 1950 to be the first F1 World Champion ever. Honoring him and his racing pursuits are features on the Edizione Nino Fraina that include Rosso Nino paintwork with contrasting Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blu, as well as Glorioso Gold wheels and a large “01” racing number. The interior features a special black and beige color scheme, with “Nino Farina” embroidery on the seats.
The fact that the special car will be debuted at Goodwood is serendipitous, as the 1951 Goodwood Trophy, a non-championship F1 race, was an event that Nino claimed victory in as well. Keeping in the tradition of F1 drivers who attained success at Goodwood, Nick Heidfeld will pilot the Battista Edizione Nino Farina at Goodwood’s legendary hill climb. Only five examples of the special Battista Edizione Nino Farina will be made, marking the second Pininfarina Battista “design edition” after the Batista Anniversario. With a rich history behind it and futuristic engineering that will define the hypercars of tomorrow, the new Pininfarina Battista Edizione Nino Farina is truly a special creation.
