You may have diamonds embedded in the jewelry you wear, but what about the paint that’s on your car? Well, Rolls-Royce went ahead and painted a Ghost in diamond-paint, resulting in the most luxurious exterior I’ve ever seen on a luxury car.
The car itself is dubbed “Elegance,” a fitting name for such an opulent car. In fact, Rolls-Royce says this is the “first luxury motor car to be finished in a paint created from diamonds.”
So, how did they make this diamond paint? It started with the procurement of 1,000 ethically-sourced diamonds, each of which was then put through extensive testing. The testing made sure that the diamonds would give off the necessary radiance when used in the paint. Then, Goodwood’s Technical Laboratory Leader, Paolo Travaglia, and his team of paint specialists, Rawdon Evernden and Joseph Piotrowski turned the diamonds into a very fine powder that could be mixed into the paint. The result? “Diamond Stardust.” The Diamond Stardust paint was applied to the top section of the car, while the bottom section is contrasted with Mugello Red and Black coachlines.
Inside, luxury continues through a lavish cabin fit for the most discerning passenger or driver. The front has Black leather seats with Mugello Red stitching, which gives Elegance’s interior a dark theme. The black theme is even featured in the carpets and footmats. And, as expected in a custom Rolls-Royce motor car, a gorgeous Tudor Oak veneer and a Bespoke clock highlight the fascia. In the rear, the lounge seat is covered in Selby Grey leather with Mugello Red stitching and piping.
