Swatch is making waves in the watch industry by celebrating the 70th anniversary of Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms, the iconic diver’s watch that revolutionized underwater timekeeping. The new collection, named Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms, pays homage to both Swatch’s SCUBA line and Blancpain’s rich heritage with five new models inspired by the world’s five oceans. These watches are packed with features such as superior water resistance, secured rotating bezels, and anti-magnetic protection. Each model is named after an ocean and features a unique motif on the rotor, embodying Swatch and Blancpain’s commitment to ocean preservation.
From the Arctic Ocean’s soft Dendronotus Frondosus to the Antarctic Ocean’s icy Tritoniella Belli, each design element speaks volumes about the intricate details and the story behind this collaboration. The power behind these watches is generated from Swatch’s SISTEM51, a fully automated mechanical movement with a whopping 90-hour power reserve. The movement is protected by a Nivachron hairspring, making it anti-magnetic. The collection also features Bioceramic, a blend of ceramic and bio-sourced material derived from castor oil. Even the NATO straps are ecologically sound, crafted from recycled fishing nets. Available from September 9 exclusively at selected Swatch stores, these watches come in a special diving case, making them the perfect collectible for Fifty Fathoms enthusiasts and collectors.
