The McMurtry Spéirling PURE fan car broke records at Hockenheimring, driven by Max Chilton, outpacing top hypercars and race cars.
Car enthusiasts were in for a treat at the Hockenheimring F1 circuit as the McMurtry Spéirling PURE fan car took center stage during the Dörr Group Track Day on June 7th and 8th. The event featured both shared and private sessions, giving drivers an opportunity to experience the car’s remarkable perfromance. With local timekeepers setting up a laser lap timer, the anticipation was palpable as former F1 driver Max Chilton took the wheel. Running at just 75% power and downforce, the Spéirling PURE achieved an impressive lap time of 1.24.43 on the 2.842-mile circuit, solidifying its place in the record books.
This lap time was an impressive 14.1 seconds quicker than the Mercedes-AMG One’s best effort from 2022 and 3.907 seconds faster than the DTM qualifying time in 2020. These results crown the Spéirling PURE as the fastest closed-wheel car around Hockenheimring while also showcasing the advanced engineering behind its unique downforce-on-demand system. The system, combined with a 1000 brake horsepower electric powertrain and selectable performance modes, takes drivers from GT3 to F1-level speeds with ease.
Max Chilton, the test driver, expressed his excitement about showcasing the fan car at such a prestigious event. He reminisced about racing at Hockenheim in F1 a decade ago, noting that the Spéirling PURE brought back those exhilarating sensations. Thomas Yates, Managing Director of McMurtry Automotive, echoed Chilton’s sentiments, highlighting the guests’ intrigue in fan cars and their future in track driving. He commended the Dörr Group and Hockenheim for hosting, marking the record-breaking event as a proud milestone for the McMurtry team and their customers. The Spéirling PURE, now available for order worldwide, is set to revolutionize the track experience with its groundbreaking technology and unmatched performance.
