Ever wondered what it’s like to zoom around Silverstone right beside a Formula 1 superstar?
Knowing that Formula 1 race cars hold mind-blowing abilities that allow them to travel at speeds more than 246mph while cornering on a dime, you’d think that there isn’t much that could compare. The team at Dutch Drone Gods is up for the challenge, putting their most advanced drone head-to-head against Max Verstappen and his RB20 F1 car as part of Oracle Red Bull Racing‘s newest YouTube video. Over the past year, Dutch Drone Gods and Red Bull Racing have been collaborating to engineer a that can accelerate two times faster than an F1 car, reaching 186mph in just 4 seconds with a top speed of over 217mph.
But before taking on the 2023 F1 World Champion, the first prototype drone went up against Red Bull Racing’s RB8, driven by F1 Broadcaster David Coulthard, in a drag race. Finally putting it to the test, Silverstone’s Grand Prix circuit shaped itself as the proving ground while the custom, manually piloted drone went on a full lap alongside Max Verstappen. And let’s not forget the pilot, Shaggy FPV, who had to keep this flying speed demon on track with just FPV goggles and some serious skills. From the drawing board in Eindhoven to the historic tarmac of Silverstone, the drone chase was a blend of innovation, adrenaline, and pure F1 passion. It’s a sneak peek into the future of sports broadcasting, where speed, tech, and talent collide to give us a front-row seat to the action.
