2017 Acura NSX: Price, Specs, Review and Photos

2017 Acura NSX Price One of the most appealing aspects of every mid-engine Japanese supercar is the Acura NSX price. Every example of the Acura NSX for sale represents a triumph of engineering and style. With the arrival of the 2nd generation NSX, values for pristine originals have multiplied by an order of magnitude. A well-equipped Acura NSX MSRP will hover around $157, 700. For that, you will receive a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with a potent hybrid drive. An electric motor/generator on the transmission and on each front wheel offers efficient All Wheel Drive at a competitive price. Specs: Nearly a decade in the making, the Acura NSX is the pride and joy of Honda's Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio. It was inspired by the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept to be a daily-driven supercar. As such, the static suspension, cargo room, and practicality set it apart from competitors. Although it packs the latest technology, Acura engineers decided to use high-strength steel to form a light space frame. Cast and extruded aluminum nodes are used to connect the subframes and suspension parts to offer strength and low unsprung weight. The windshield pillars are thinner and stronger than other exotics, and the door sills are more conventional. Complex body lines dictate the use of hydroformed aluminum, sheet-molded composite, and high-temperature plastics to make up the exterior. As the official Pace Car of the 2015 Pike’s Peak Hill Climb, Acura’s latest supercar used twin turbos and three electric motors to scorch the treacherous trail. This new production model of the NSX is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine mated to a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. The NSX also receives power from an all-new, three electric motor Sport Hybrid (SH) system. The front wheels receive power or braking from two electric motors while the third is inside the rear-mounted transmission. Driving the Acura NSX is rewarding thanks to the smooth addition of electric torque. Constantly balanced between the front and rear wheels, you will not reach the limits of grip on public roads. Perhaps the main detriment to the car's performance is a curb weight of 4,800 lbs. No amount of electronic wizardry can mask such a hefty design. "...the NSX represents the culmination of countless engineering efforts and years of development." “Our commitment was to create an all-new NSX that is true to the heritage of NSX—a supercar that delivers a new driving experience, one where every part of the vehicle is respectful of the smartest part of the car, the driver,” said Mike Accavitti, senior vice president and general manager of the Acura division, in a press release introducing the car. The new 2016 NSX is comprised of multiple materials, including aluminum, carbon fiber and ultra-high strength steel. Sharing almost no components with Acura’s other production models, the NSX represents the culmination of countless engineering efforts and years of development. Being the halo car for one of the largest automakers is a tall order to fill. So in order to ensure quality, a dedicated production line at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio plant is ready to roll. Acura NSX and NSX GT3 Evo Face Off Staying true to form, the new NSX will arrive with a mid-mounted V6 in a lightweight body, but that is where the similarities between old and new end. This new 3.5-liter V6 uses two turbochargers to make 500 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. A new nine-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission is paired with a direct-drive hybrid motor/generator. Power is stored in a lithium-ion battery mounted low in the chassis. This energy is channeled to the front wheels by a Twin Motor Unit (TMU). Powering each front wheel independently, it can induce yaw while cornering to provide incredible lateral grip. In addition to more traction, Acura added 73 horsepower to the acceleration equation. This will make for blistering acceleration and an estimated top speed of 191 mph. The chassis and space frame are mostly aluminum, with high strength steel used in critical safety areas. Production is about to begin at Honda’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio. Acura NSX Engine For a truly unique car they decided on an all-new powerplant. Drawing from years of dominance on the track, the cylinder heads are separated by 75 degrees. Each cylinder has port and direct injection, with oiling from a dry sump. Thanks to active valve timing and electric wastegates, maximum torque of 406 lb-ft arrives at only 2,000 rpm. When combined with the additional battery power, the Acura NSX is a blast in any situation. Acura NSX Transmission Beating everyone to the punch, the Acura NSX transmission was the first supercar to offer 9 speeds and a dual-clutch input. Cars with this much torque don't need so many gears, but the deep overdrives offer leisurely cruising on the highway. The electric motor is sandwiched between the clutch plates and the transmission, with three-phase windings surrounding the flywheel. This compact arrangement can add power when needed or instantly store extra power in the battery. Acura NSX Brakes Like all great hybrids, the Acura NSX brakes are based on energy storage. Before the hydraulic system is needed, all three electric motors place the maximum load on the axles. Even if the battery is charged, the voltage is dissipated as heat. Effectively using the hybrid system as a resistor, the brake master cylinder is called upon when more friction is needed. Those who opt for iron brakes will have 14.5" front rotors while the carbon ceramics are 15". Brembo six-piston calipers are standard on both systems, as are 14.2" rear rotors. The calipers are full-floating and all four rotors have aluminum hats to save weight. Thanks to hybrid assist, your original brakes might last the life of the car. Tour David Lee's $50 Million Ferrari Collection

We've covered David Lee and his incredible collection before. There was the time he put five generations out on display in front of his jewelry store in California. And then there was the time he gave us a little preview of his Ferrari Collection on YouTube. Now, we bring you YouTuber, Furious Pete, who gives us the full walk-around of Lee's $50 million collection.Check out the LaFerrari in all it's glory, followed by the various other models Lee owns. Pete is even joined by Lee as he goes over some of the rare Ferraris he owns. The Pete asks which Ferrari model is worth the most, there's some deliberation before Lee steps in and points out the iconic 1964 250 Lusso Competizione. This, he says, because of its rarity (only four were produced, according to Lee) and history, will probably garner the most dollars should he sell it. BMW Turned Into Real Transformer

Autobots unite... or Decepticons if you must. Either way, any Transformers fan secretly (or not-so-secretly) wishes they might have the opportunity to turn their car into their favorite alien robot. Now, a company called Letrons is bringing that dream into reality. In a few recent videos uploaded to the company's YouTube page, shows that they've created the ability to literally turn a vehicle into a Transformer.According to the company's website, Letrons is the first and only company with technology of its kind. The Transformer is remote-control operated and includes fog effects and full sound. The Transformer has full head, neck and arm movement as well as finger movement. LARTE Design Presents the GLS Black Crystal

LARTE Design has upped the ante on the Mercedes-Benz GLS and have crafted what they call the GLS Black Crystal. With a name including "crystal," you can expect for this modified SUV to be both sharp and stunning. The aftermarket car has implemented just about 50 new parts to the GLS to create the SUV, using materials like basalt and carbon fiber.Up front on the GLS Black Crystal are a slew of new features, including carbon fiber inserts and a new front splitter. On each side of this bumper are symbols that signify the tuning package - the Black Crystal Swarovski. Carbon fiber decorates the grille, which also features LARTE's logo. Along the sides are expanded wheel arches, complete with carbon inserts, which give the SUV a more aggressive appearance. What's more, LARTE is able to paint the carbon elements in any color to match the design of each client's car.In the rear is a bumper that includes carbon inserts and a very special diffuser. This diffuser is quite special because it provides both form and function, allowing drivers to utilize the tow bar while it's installed. Ferrari Driver Sets Record on Crazy Mountainside Roadway

In China, Tianmen Mountain is home of one of the most dangerous roadways. The 6.8 mile drive sits at a crazy elevation, and is home to 99 turns, most of which require the driver to complete a 180-degree turn to get through. The winding roadway is definitely not for the faint of heart or the novice driver. In the video below Italian race car driver, Fabio Barone Mihaela, takes on the daunting task of racing from the top of the mountain to the bottom where a crowd awaits in a Ferrari 458.(Related - What to Wear When You Drive: Bianco Avus Ferrari 488 GTB)Zipping through the turns and gunning it on the straightaways, Mihaela makes the drive look near effortless. He braved hairpin turns (30 of them) and edge of the mountain turns like the pro he is, and he made it to the end of the course in 10 minutes and 31 seconds. Thanks to some modifications made to his vehicle, Mihaela was able to achieve greater speeds than he would have normally. Velocity Motorcars' Ferrari Halo Collection by TMash Phot...

Written by Tanner MashburnHaving the opportunity to photograph a collection of the best Ferraris in the world is definitely something that doesn’t come around very often. The Ferrari Enzo, F50, F40 and 288 GTO are rare enough to see on their own but all in one place is almost unthinkable. Although I would have loved to spend an entire weekend with these amazing cars the deadline was very soon so these, along with other rare Ferraris in the collection, had my full attention for one day only. They were all to have full inventory photos taken for Velocity Motorcars. These photos would then be used for advertising purposes and featured in the October Issue of duPont Registry.Ferrari For Sale Miami Walking into the building where this collection was kept left my jaw on the floor. They were all lined up perfectly and were as clean as the day they came from the factory. I found a corner of the storage space that was best for these cars to be photographed. The white wall was simple but combined with the red paint of each Ferrari made for a perfect photo. Even better, the glass opening in the ceiling provided natural light from the sun that shined down on each car throughout the day.The process to photograph these cars was very simple yet incredibly time-consuming. In total it took about nine hours to photograph the cars. I am sure the process could have gone much quicker, but it was impossible not to slow down and admire the little details. After the inventory photos were done we took the four main cars to a nearby location for some night photos. Driving an F50 to the location and an Enzo back when we were done is definitely a check off the bucket list!Once at the location, we lined the four cars up for a group photo. Once that was complete individual photos of the F50 and Enzo were taken. All of the photos used no major lighting equipment, just a handheld light and a long exposure from the camera. Almost everything in the final product was straight from the camera with very little editing. In the end, I was very pleased with how the photos came out. The inventory photos captured an overall view of every car that I hope results in a quick sell and the group photos were a once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. Seeing the Enzo photo on the cover of the October duPont Registry was definitely a dream come true for me.Learn More About the Collection

Audi Brings Competition with the TT S

Dubbed as "decidedly sporty," the new Audi TT S competition model brings the best of sport and dynamics to the TT line. The limited edition vehicle will feature a handsome, strong-lined body enhanced by high-gloss black accents and the enhanced sport suspension adds a menacing stance, lowering the TT S about 10 millimeters closer to the ground than the TT. New World Record for Venturie Electric Vehicle Set at 341...

It's official. The Venturi VBB-3 has made history as the world's fastest electric car. The dart-like automobile and the Center for Automotive Research at Ohio State University partnered up for another run on the Bonneville salt flats in Ohio to test the Venturi VBB-3's speed capabilities. This is the fifth record set for Venturi and OSU.(Related - The Iron Knight: World's Fastest Truck)The record was three years in the making as the VBB-3 was actually completed and ready to run in 2013, but severe weather in Ohio postponed the testing three years in a row. Considered the most powerful electric car in production, the VBB-3 makes an incredible 300- horsepower, but you won't see this one on the roadways. Lexus UX Concept Makes 3D Driving a Thing

Looking like something out of Minority Report, the new Lexus UX Concept brings the driving experience and holograms together. This futuristic SUV brings 3D out of the movie theaters and into the cockpits of vehicles. To start, the "driver's instrument binnacle houses a transparent globe, which floats, "in the manner of a hologram." To function, the binnacle fuses together analog and digital technology. The Bristol dealership location is the first to feature Lamborghini's newly designed showroom and service center, marking the brand's commitment to innovation and ever-changing design.The new, roomier showroom is designed to accommodate Lamborghini's expanding model lineup, which will include an SUV in 2018. 1991 Ferrari F40 at Velocity Motorcars

Produced between 1987 and 1992, the Ferrari F40 emerged as the successor to the Ferrari 288 GTO. Bentley Introduces Diesel Bentayga

First, Bentley set the bar when they introduced their first SUV: the Bentayga. Then, they defied odds with the 2016 Bentayga's specs: 600 horsepower. Two stellar engine options: 6.0-liter W12 or 4.0-liter twin turbo V8. A 0-60 sprint in 4 seconds flat. Now, they are making headway again by offering the Bentayga in diesel.The Bentayga Diesel marks a new precedent for the brand, as this is Bentley's first diesel model to be offered. Bentley is describing the new Bentayga Diesel as, "the world's fastest and most powerful luxury diesel SUV," and the specs are impressive. Equipped with a, "technologically advanced, triple-charged, 4.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine," the SUV is capable of 429 bhp and 664 lb-ft of torque. The result is a 0-60 sprint in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph. New Mercedes-Benz E-Class All Terrain Teaser Alert!

It wasn't much, but today, Mercedes-Benz provided a preview of the new E-Class All Terrain form of a YouTube video. The teaser video provided a brief look at the front grille, all-terrain feature, wheels and side panels. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz let viewers know the new E-Class will be on display at the 2016 Paris Auto Show, which is right around the corner.Check out the teaser video below. Could Paul Walker's Character Make a Comeback in Fast & F...

Paul Walker's character, Brian O'Connor, was noticeably cut short in the most recent installment of the Fast Franchise. Fans who mourned his untimely death in November 2013 have questions about how the franchise will continue on without him. According to a recent article from Entertainment Weekly, it's possible the franchise hasn't seen the end of the beloved Brian O'Connor.In the article, Walker's brothers, Caleb and Cody Walker, spoke about their brother's character returning to the films down the line, which could definitely be possible given there are three more movies already contracted. In the article, Walker's brother, Caleb, talks about a phone call he'd had with Vin Diesel in which they discussed the possibility of Walker's character returning. The brothers, the rest of the cast and Universal want to ensure that if the character does return, Walker's memory and image are respected.Fast 8 is scheduled for release in April 2017, and though the brothers stated O'Connor could appear "down the line" in the films, we be fans are wondering if he'll make an appearance in the new film. Audi's New Paint Shop is Efficient, Sustainable and Opera...

Back in April 2014, Audi started construction on a 129,000 sq-ft painting facility at their plant in Ingolstadt. The massive building officially opened for operation Tuesday, Sept 20. One of the most earth-friendly plant operations in the world, the new shop uses a combination of "air recirculation, dry separation and exhaust air cleaning," according to a company press release. The new facility will operate with around 200 employees, all of which are provided ergonomic workspaces. These 200-something employees are joined by a fleet of robots, 98 of the to be exact. The robots will be responsible for painting, cleaning and handling. This equates to nearly one-third of the workforce being automated in the facility.Massive and highly efficient, the painting plant has the ability to paint upwards of 900 cars per day across three floors. With this highly efficient addition to an already futuristic plant, Audi is further cementing their commitment to building the factories of tomorrow.
