One of the automotive world’s favorite design houses preserves its rich history.
On many of the world’s most beautiful cars, you’ll see the name “Pininfarina” emblazoned somewhere on the side, most notably many of Ferrari’s most iconic creations. The name is of the design house responsible for penning the creation, and its portfolio features some of the greatest masterpieces ever made. Now, the house has revealed its new Pininfarina Classiche certification program, aimed at preserving the rich history of Pininfarina’s design and its stunning work.
The program is intended to certify classic cars and “youngtimers,” in order to give collectors and enthusiasts of its cars proof that they own a piece of history and are preserving it for generations to come. The program comes as a result of a cataloging of Pininfarina’s intense historical archive, which took two years to do, and the software used to digitally manage the archive involves a collaboration with the University of Turin’s Historical Studies department.
The program focuses on vehicles made between the 1950s and 1990s, with over 50 models and serial numbers for over 700,000 vehicles. Over 20,000 historical documents are part of the archive, as well. The Pininfarina Classiche program will issue Production Specification declarations, showing owners detailed information about their cars, with chassis numbers, color specifications and finishes, and even the day they left the factory.
During its initial launch phase, the program will provide services for owners of 1966-1993 Alfa Romeo Spider (Duetto), the 1966-1982 Fiat 124 Spider, and the 1982-1985 Pininfarina Spider Europa and Volumex. Soon, however, the program is said to expand to cover more stunning classic exotic cars.
Those interested in registering can email classiche@pininfarina.it, and prices for declarations are €300 for cars made from 1980 onwards, and €400 for cars made pre-1980. With a portfolio full of some of the world’s most stunning cars ever made, this new certification program is sure to preserve great automotive history and some of the most beautiful automotive creations ever.
