Porsche’s rich history is at the center of yet another exciting competition.
With over 75 years of history, Porsche is one of the most revered manufacturers of luxury performance vehicles in the automotive industry. Its legendary 911, one of the world’s most celebrated and recognizable sports cars of all time, has 60 years of history alone, and Porsche’s lexicon of classics is the subject of its Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge.
The annual competition sees Porsche challenge its United States dealerships to the task of finding a classic Porsche that needs TLC and restoring it to show-worthy glory. Since its inception in 2020, over 100 classic Porsches have been resurrected as part of the challenge that were previously not road-worthy.
Three categories of vehicles will be entered in the challenge this year: Preservation, which celebrates vehicles that use original parts and materials, Restoration, which celebrates vehicles that are brought to like-new condition, and Individualization, which focuses on Sonderwunsch-like customization.
With more Porsches in America than anywhere else in the world, there are plenty of cars still waiting to be cherished as part of the competition, whose 2025 edition is now underway. Porsche Centers across the country will be documenting their progress as they restore previously unloved hidden gems of Porsche’s classic history, and regional judging will take place this summer towards the finale in October.
