New Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Previewed on Nurburgring Before Reveal

Absolutely blasted its “little brother,” the 718 Cayman GT4, around Nurburgring.

The new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS looks to be ready for its unveiling after its proved itself on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife circuit. With Jörg Bergmeister behind the wheel, the 718 Cayman GT4 RS managed a lap time of 7:09.300 minutes, beating out the 718 Cayman GT4 by 23.6 seconds. That just proves that this new model is much more than two additional letters in the model name.

“The 718 Cayman GT4 RS is an uncompromising driving machine. It feels as nimble as a go-kart on mountain roads, yet is impressively stable and well-balanced on the racetrack. Otherwise, such a lap time wouldn’t even be possible,” says Jörg Bergmeister. “The GT4 RS is one of the sharpest cars Porsche has ever developed. And you really have had to experience the breathtaking noise it makes for yourself.”

According to Andreas Preuninger, Director of the GT Model Line, the new 718 Cayman GT4 RS has a “lightweight construction, more downforce, more power and, of course, an even higher level of responsiveness and feedback to driver inputs.” After Bergmeister’s fantastic lap, it looks like those modifications have paid off and then some.

When it comes to the reveal date of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, that will be happening in November 2021.
