Porsche adds variety to its new electric SUV offering.
Porsche recently introduced its second all-electric model, the new 2024 Porsche Macan Electric, an electrified redesign of Porsche’s popular small SUV. Initially launched with two variants: the Porsche Macan 4 and the Porsche Macan Turbo, the iconic luxury sports car manufacturer has now introduced two more variants, adding both to the lower and higher end of the Macan range.
The new rear-wheel drive Porsche Macan Electric offers a nimble version of the electric compact luxury SUV, along with saving weight in comparison to the Macan 4 Electric by forgoing all-wheel drive. Starting at an MSRP of $75,300 compared to the $78,800 price of the Macan 4, the new rear-wheel drive model serves as the new entry-level offering for the model. Its typical power output is 335 horsepower, but it can access as much as 355 hp of overboost power with Launch Control. It also has 415 lb/ft of torque on tap. Getting from 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 136 mph, the new Porsche Macan Electric is an electrified version of the Macan’s everyday enjoyable luxury SUV formula.
Meanwhile, near the top of the new Porsche Macan Electric range is the new Macan 4S, which sports a new rear-axle motor, which is paired with the same front-axle motor as the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo. It normally sports 402 horsepower but can access as much as 509 horsepower with overboost, and as much as 578 lb/ft of torque with Launch Control. Adaptive Air Suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management come as standard on the model, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with optional rear-axle steering all work to enhance performance and comfort. The Macan 4S Electric, starting at $84,900, gets from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 149 mph.
In addition to introducing two new models, the new Porsche Macan Electric features a host of new cosmetic features, including a new exterior color, Slate Grey Neo. The Macan Electric also introduces a new 20-inch set of wheels, and a new available off-road design package not only adds a more rugged look but changes the geometry of the front bumper to increase the approach angle of the new Porsche Macan Electric to reach as much as 17.5 degrees, making the new electric luxury SUV a more adventure-ready vehicle.
Both new Porsche Macan Electric models are available to order now, and deliveries are set to begin in the United States in the fourth quarter of the year. With a larger range of models and various new design options, the new Porsche Macan Electric is ready to write the next chapter of the success story of one of Porsche’s most important and influential models.
