The limited special edition kite is an homage to the legendary Porsche 917/20 “Pink Pig.”
With a strong influence in the world of action sports and motorsports, Porsche continues to lend its resources in efforts to elevate performance. Porsche has teamed up with premier kiteboarding manufacturer, Duotone, to introduce a distinctive kite and board echoing the iconic design of the Porsche 917/20 race car, known as the “Pink Pig.” Last year’s collaboration between these brands witnessed a sell-out success, and their most recent venture, unveiled in Tarifa, Spain, celebrates the unique livery of a race car that made a significant mark in Le Mans 1971. Limited to just 360 units, a nod to the car’s top speed, the kite boasts Duotone’s cutting-edge Evo SLS technology, ensuring peak performance, and is available in sizes of 7 m, 9 m, and 12 m, paired with a 138 cm board.
Thomas Kaiser from Duotone highlighted that this collaboration is where Porsche’s fine craftsmanship marries the brand’s innovative kite tech. Additionally, Sandra Siegloch of Porsche expressed excitement about bringing Porsche’s rich history to the world of kitesurfing, with a focus on propelling the sport forward. A portion of the sales will be directed towards Duotone’s “Young Blood” initiative, which supports talents in kitesurfing. The Porsche 917/20, or the “Pink Pig,” is renowned for its unique pink body and butcher-style cut labels, turning heads during the 1971 Le Mans. Although it didn’t clinch a win, its legacy and impression in Porsche’s history are undeniable. Now, the spirit of this car is ready to soar the skies and surf the waves with Porsche and Duotone’s latest offering.
