Rennsport Reunion’s third day brought surprise races at 15mph, Porsche Carrera Cup North America qualifiers, and US debuts of Porsche’s newest concepts.
The third day of Rennsport Reunion added a twist to the usual high-speed atmosphere with an unexpectedly slow-paced race maxing out at 15mph. Despite the leisurely tempo, renowned drivers like Jeff Zwart, Jörg Bergmeister, and Patrick Long participated in the Porsche Tractor race, receiving spirited support from Porsche Executive Board members Barbara Frenkel, Andreas Haffner, Dr. Michael Steiner, and Detlev von Platen. As Nick Tandy, professional race car driver and farmer, humorously put it, “Well, that was about the most fun you can have at 15mph.”
Additionally, Porsche Carrera Cup North America racers amped up the speed, creating a fierce qualifying session with competitive driving styles. Will Martin from JDX Racing stole the show by securing the pole position. Adding to the on-track excitement, historic races featuring iconic models like the 917/10 and the 356 B T5 Roadster had fans on the edge of their seats.
Off-track, the event welcomed a capacity crowd to an array of automotive-inspired exhibitions. Among the highlights were the U.S. debuts of Porsche’s Mission X concept, Vision 357 Speedster Concept, and the new 911 S/T. In a nostalgic turn of events, Sally Carrera and Lightning McQueen, two characters from the Disney Pixar film Cars, were brought to life in full scale. Pixar designers Bob Pauley and Jay Ward engaged the audience with talks on creating the two iconic characters. Rennsport Reunion continues to captivate Porsche owners and enthusiasts with its unique blend of racing action, legendary automobiles, and innovative concept debuts.
