Porsche’s electric performance machine becomes a Hollywood star.
The Taycan is Porsche’s first all-electric model, which has now entered its second generation, with improved performance and revised design, building on the success of the high-performance luxury electric sports car. However, the Taycan Turbo is gracing a new stage, as a star in a new film: Den of Thieves 2: Pantera. Alongside the electric sports car are actors Gerard Butler and O’Shea Jackson Jr., returning for the Den of Thieves sequel as detective Big Nick and heist genius Donnie Wilson.
As a film about a perfectly-planned heist, the perfect car was the Porsche Taycan, thanks to it being practical, luxurious, powerful, athletic, and distinctly, silent. Christian Gudegast, the film’s writer and director, knew that the Porsche Taycan was the perfect car for the job after his research, even before he knew that Porsche would agree.
Five cars were provided by Porsche for filming, including one that was controlled by a stunt driver on the roof. With two months to implement the modifications needed for the stunt cars and test them, the port of Tenerife needed to be closed in the summer of 2023 for testing. The film, including the Porsche Taycan’s starring role as a quiet yet powerful luxury sports car, is being released today, with the electric luxury vehicle in the thick of exciting action.
