The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition continues one of Porsche’s most iconic American traditions.

In 1952, Porsche introduced the 356 America Roadster, an open-top driver’s Porsche made exclusively for the North American market that captures the spirit of American driving. The tradition continued 30 years ago with the 964 America Roadster, and it continues yet again 70 years after it began with the 992 generation of the Porsche 911, with the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition. Staying true to the ethos of the America-named Porsche’s being driver’s cars, it exclusively comes available with rear-wheel drive and with a 7-speed manual transmission.

With 473 horsepower and 420 lb/ft of torque coming from the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-6 engine, along with Porsche Active Suspension Management, Sport Exhaust, and optionally available Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes and rear-axle steering make it a modern performance machine that honors classic driving tradition. The color, inspired by both the 1953 356 America Roadster, and the American flag itself, features a recreation of the 356 America Roadster’s Azure Blue, as well as white and Guards Red accents. The American-themed accents continue in the black leather interior, including “America” embossing on the armrest, and Guards Red seatbelts.

Only 16 examples of the 356 America Roadster were made, making it one of the rarest 356 editions ever, and Porsche says that the new 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America edition will be one of the rarest 992 911s in kind. It’s expected to arrive at U.S. dealers in late 2022, starting at $184,920 for the 2023 model year.
