Watch Porsche Restore A DTM-Winning 911 GT3 R For Its Museum

DTM is one of the world’s most iconic racing series, showing off cars that look like ones on the roads but show off the incredible performance potential of their respective manufacturers and the performance cars that you can drive off the track. For Porsche, an important milestone was achieved when its 991-generation 911 GT3 R won its very first, and Porsche’s first DTM victory in 2022 at the Norisring in Nuremberg. In the past few weeks, the Porsche Heritage and Museum department, along with Porsche brand ambassador and Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard repaired the car and restored it to the condition that it was in when it won its historic victory to be added to the Porsche Museum collection as a stunning historic piece.

The incredible victory came in Porsche’s first season in DTM from KÜS Team Bernhard, and for Timo Bernhard whose family is heavily involved in the racing team, its induction to the Porsche Museum collection is almost as emotional a moment as the victory itself. While an accident dashed the team’s hopes of winning the entire season, the intense restoration that the car underwent has helped preserve the triumph of its victory at the Norisring, and in Porsche’s 75th anniversary year, it’s a well-deserved celebration of a great car, a great team, and a great moment.
