Rolls-Royce takes inspiration from its beautiful icon.
Besides the unmistakable presence of its stately ultra-luxury machines and their unmistakable silhouettes, one of the first images that comes to mind when someone thinks of a Rolls-Royce is the Spirit of Ecstasy. This iconic symbol has stood as the hood ornament of Rolls-Royce cars for decades, alluding to the cars’ opulent luxury and unparalleled design. However, the Spirit of Ecstasy is now serving as inspiration for a new Rolls-Royce Private Collection: the Phantom Scintilla.
The new Rolls-Royce Phantom Scintilla Private Collection was created to embody the “grace, dynamism, and beauty” of the Spirit of Ecstasy symbol. As such, the Spirit of Ecstasy of the Phantom Scintilla has a ceramic finish, which likens it to the Greek marble sculpture, ‘The Winged Victory of Samothrace,’ which inspired the original Spirit of Ecstasy. The car is limited to 10 examples worldwide, and the first example was presented to its collector at this year’s Monterey Car Week, one of the most anticipated automotive events in the world.
The two-tone exterior of the Phantom Scintilla also nods to Ancient Greece, pairing Andalusian White and Thracian Blue paintwork for a Mediterranean, classic aesthetic. Spirit Blue in the Coachline and Wheel Pinstripes adds subtle, beautiful, elegant detail. The interior uses fabric and embroidery to create a “painted” luminous effect, stitched together from 36 sections of embroidery. The 633,000 stitches are the product of 40 hours of work for each interior.
The Phantom Gallery, the signature feature of the dashboard, features a ‘Celestial Pulse’ artwork. Its seven aluminum “ribbons” evoke the windswept grace of the Spirit of Ecstasy. The car also features a bespoke “Fleeting Moment” Starlight Headliner. Arctic White wood veneers complete the stunning bespoke finish.
An official pricing number for the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Scintilla Private Collection is unavailable. Still, it is among North America’s most valuable Rolls-Royce Phantoms ever delivered. All of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Scintilla commissions destined for North America have been spoken for through Rolls-Royce’s North American dealer network.
