“Look, you work your side of the street and I’ll work mine”
These are the words of Frank Bullitt as portrayed by iconoclastic actor Steve McQueen in the movie “Bullitt.” 2018 marks the 50-year anniversary of the film, and McQueen’s celebrated role will be honored as cars, motorcycles and fans converge on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at the campus of The Boys Republic of Chino Hills to fete this milestone.
The action begins Friday evening, June 1, for the “50th Anniversary of Bullitt” dinner. The evening will
include a silent auction and wine tasting, followed by a movie-themed dinner program and live auction.
The meal will be planned, prepared and served by culinary students of Boys Republic. Saturday’s main event will feature an eclectic array of collectible and historic vehicles. The participation of Boys Republic students, from meal preparation to assistance with spectator parking, to vehicle judging, is integral to the success of the event.
As a warm-up to the show, enthusiasts can take it on the road by participating in the 3rd Annual Steve

Boys Republic was established in 1907, as a private, non-profit community for at-risk boys and girls, ages 13-17. McQueen attended as a student from 1947-49. The actor credited the school with turning his life around and pointing him on the path to success. He never forgot that connection and remained involved with the school even after he became a Hollywood star and legend. The McQueen family continues that involvement today.
All proceeds are donated to Boys Republic, with this year’s goal is to bring overall monies raised since
the inception of the show to more than $2 million. Recent improvements to the campus include a new teaching bakery, renovations of the 60-year- old gymnasium, and complete renovations to the six campus living units. For students participating in the school’s re-established auto-tech class, monies have been pledged to fund an annual scholarship to graduates continuing these studies at the community college level.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Boys Republic, 1907 Boys Republic Drive, Chino Hills, CA.
Parking is free and admission is $10.00 with children under 12 free. Vehicle entry applications will be
available on the website beginning January 1, 2018.
