This Porsche 918 Spyder is being offered with no reserve!
At the core of this automotive marvel is a mid-mounted 608bhp 4.6-liter 4-cam V8 engine, featuring state-of-the-art technologies like dry-sump lubrication, direct injection, and Variocam for variable camshaft timing. An innovative Iconel exhaust system is uniquely positioned between the cylinder banks at the top of the engine, omitting the need for an external ancillary drive belt.
The 918 Spyder’s advanced gas powertrain is complemented by a hybrid module, connected to the rear axle via a 7-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission. This setup includes a 154bhp AC electric motor that works alongside the gas engine and serves as the primary generator. An additional 127bhp electric motor at the front axle further enhances the car’s power output. Combined, these systems generate a staggering 887hp and over 900 ft/lbs of torque.
Originally delivered in 2015 and kept by its first owner until early 2023, this 918 Spyder was collected directly from the Porsche factory in Germany. It comes heavily optioned, featuring a front-lift system, stone guard, lightweight bucket seats, and an elegant Onyx Black leather interior with Acid Green accents. The Weissach package further enhances its allure, adding magnesium performance wheels, a rear carbon spoiler, and additional carbon and aluminum elements.
This Porsche 918 Spyder, numbered #891 of only 918 built, represents the epitome of craftsmanship, with each unit hand-assembled by a team of about 100 experts. The assembly process itself took around 100 hours per car, emphasizing the meticulous attention to detail.
Renowned for its race car roots, the 918 Spyder boasts a rolling chassis at its core, exemplifying its performance pedigree. It famously lapped the Nürburgring in just 6 minutes and 57 seconds at an average speed of 179.5km/h (111.54 mph).
As it heads to the Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale auction, this Porsche 918 Spyder offers a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to own a significant piece of automotive history, a blend of cutting-edge technology and unparalleled performance.
