Limited edition fails to capture just how exclusive this car is. Grand Touring Automobiles is bringing to Canada one of just five of the hand-crafted Battista Edizione Nino Farina hyper GT cars ever to be built by Automobili Pininfarina.
Yes, that Pininfarina. The Pininfarina that is the global standard bearer of Italian design, responsible for some of the most iconic Ferraris through history. Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina founded his company in 1930 with a dream of creating a solely Pininfarina-branded vehicle one day, and now, nearly 90 years later, the Battista is the realization of that dream.
And the Battista Edizione Nino Farina is more special still, with each of the five in the limited series built specifically to honor a milestone in the life of Nino Farina, the nephew of the design icon and the first-ever Formula 1 World Champion.
The look of the Battista takes a future-facing new form that remains true to Pininfarina’s foundational design principles. And its astonishing all-electric performance makes it faster than a modern F1 car, capable of accelerating from 0−100 km/h in 1.86 seconds.
The vehicle is painted a rich red Rosso Nino that pays tribute to the vehicles Nino Farina drove throughout his racing career. Its bespoke aluminum passenger door plate is anodized in black with one of five unique designs, each celebrating a milestone in the racing driver’s life. The vehicle brought to Canada for Grand Touring Automobiles specifically honors Nino Farina’s 1950 world championship victory.
The others in the series mark his date and place of birth (1906 in Turin), his first-ever F1 pole position and race victory at the British Grand Prix, his second victory at the Swiss Grand Prix, and his third and final victory at the Italian Grand Prix.
The exterior color is contrasted with Bianco Sestriere and Iconica Blu finishes, new Glorioso Gold wheels, and an eye-catching ‘01’ graphic. Interior details include a driver’s seat finished in black sustainable leather and a contrasting beige leather passenger seat. Nods to Nino Farina abound, with inscriptions on the seats, the headlight unit, and the driver’s side carbon side wing.
The Battista Edizione Nino Farina made its global debut last summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it took a spirited run up the hill with driver Nick Heidfeld behind the wheel. Vehicle No. 5 is expected to arrive at Grand Touring Automobiles later this spring.
