Fans of drag racing and Mopar will surely know the name ‘Big Daddy” Don Garlits. Voted the number one of the top 50 drag racers of all time by his peers, Big Daddy is a legend. In fact, he’s secured 144 national event wins drag racing. The car above is the next Joe Adams design past Adams graphic design of Mr. Garlits one-of-one factory Drag Pak Challenger. While you may not be able to buy the historic Garlits car, you can buy the sister design, “Innovator”: the 001 prototype of a brand-new customizing line tied to the 001L (legend’s Design).
The Innovator prototype has an exterior that was designed to shed light on our trades force shortage. The goal is to use the car and future builds to promote the importance of teaching young people to build with their hands, starting with model kit builds. As for the car itself, it’s built upon a 2017 Dodge Challenger TA 6.4L Hemi on the 80th anniversary year of Mopar. The prototype is the first of a 50 unit build to order run that will be available for 2021 Challengers. The cars will be co-designed by the two former museum of drag racing designers, Mr. Adams and the legendary Kenny Youngblood.
