Bentley Motors has unveiled the latest evolution of its iconic Continental GT Speed, and it has been reimagined to work differently than ever before. The new ultra-performance plug-in hybrid powertrain makes a significant leap forward in the model’s 21-year legacy – in fact, it’s the most powerful Bentley model ever produced. Upholding tradition, the fourth-generation GT Speed folds in the best of internal combustion and electric power to seamlessly blend exhilarating supercar performance with unparalleled luxury, quietness, and everyday practicality.
Inside and out, the new Continental GT Speed has undergone extensive redesigns, showcasing Bentley’s latest design DNA, established by the coachbuilt Bacalar and Batur. From the redesigned rear of the car to the visually cleaned silhouette and front end, Bentley’s designers have crafted a more muscular appearance, giving the new GT Speed the stance of a “resting beast.”
The most significant revision of the Continental GT Speed can be found up front. The new Bentley features a pair of single headlights reminiscent of 1950s Bentley models, marking the first time in over six decades that a mainstream Bentley sports single headlights. Inside each headlight are 120 separate LED lights, each digitally controlled for increased illumination capabilities. Bentley has also ensured that the transition between lit and unlit areas is gradual and natural, providing drivers with a more relaxing experience devoid of “black holes” in their field of vision.
The interior of the Continental GT Speed has also undergone a design revolution, offering the driver and passengers a new perspective on what it means to travel in luxury at speed. This is evident in features like the optional Wellness seating with Postural Adjust, air ionization, sculptured quilting, a choice of three audio systems, the innovative Bentley Rotating Display, and much more. The new Dark Chrome Interior Specification further enhances the cabin, adding character through treatment on door handles, switches, speaker grilles, and more. Combined with the Continental GT Speed’s mood lighting, which offers 30 color options, this new specification transforms the cabin into the ultimate luxury environment.
No matter which of the three audio systems is selected, the Continental GT Speed’s best audio component remains its engine. At the heart of the new Bentley is an all-new 4.0-liter V8 engine working in cooperation with an electric motor. The engine alone produces 584 bhp, while the electric motor adds 187 bhp for a combined 771 bhp and 738 lb-ft of torque. This power propels the Grand Tourer from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 208 mph. Compared to the outgoing generation equipped with a W12 engine, this new iteration of the GT Speed sees an 11% increase in power, making it the most powerful Bentley ever.
When it comes to defining a luxurious drive, nothing is more lavish than a silent, peaceful, and environmentally friendly ride. The new Continental GT Speed can travel up to 50 miles in electric-only mode. Complementing the powertrain is Bentley’s advanced Performance Active Chassis, featuring active all-wheel drive, all-wheel steering, torque vectoring, and the latest ESC control software. This combination allows for a versatile driving experience, adapting seamlessly between relaxed cruising and dynamic performance driving.
To protect both the Continental GT Speed and its passengers, Bentley has equipped the car with the latest and most advanced driver assistance systems, touting it as one of the market’s most technologically advanced luxury cars. For instance, the environment display in the driver’s instrument panel enables semi-assisted driving by allowing the car to understand its surroundings. Bentley also notes that further technological features, such as green traffic light prediction, will become available in the coming years.
For those seeking open-air exhilaration, the Continental GTC Speed arrives alongside the coupe. The GTC Speed boasts a seven-bow fabric roof system that can be deployed in 19 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph. Customers can choose from seven roof colors, including tweed. Performance figures are equally impressive as the roof’s deployment speed, with the GTC Speed reaching 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 177 mph.
The new Bentley Continental GT Speed and GTC Speed represent a culmination of modern design, cutting-edge technology, and a groundbreaking hybrid powertrain. These remarkable Grand Tourers set a new benchmark in the luxury segment, showcasing Bentley’s unwavering commitment to crafting the ultimate driving experience.
