You can stop dreaming of the future now, because Lexus has your working hoverboard.
In a video uploaded to their YouTube page June 23, a skateboard can be seen floating in mid-air thanks to a powerful magnetic field. It’s possible the white vapor emanating from the center is nitrogen used to cool a pair of superconductors. Magnets of this caliber have the ability to magnetize almost anything, so it might be possible for this board to traverse a variety of terrains before the coolant boils away.

“The Lexus hoverboard represents true engineering innovation and over the coming weeks, we’ll be bringing you regular updates on the progress of this extraordinary project,” describes the video’s caption. “Follow the conversation using #LexusHover.”
This project is known as “SLIDE” and is their fourth in the Amazing in Motion ad campaign. Fans of “Back to the Future” will note that Marty McFly encountered a similar apparatus on his trip to 2015, but his looked more maneuverable, with an indefinite flight time. Why Lexus is experimenting with maglev technologies is beyond us, but a hovering IS 350 C would make for a nice weekend ride.
