John Mayer adds yet another ultra-exclusive Audemars Piguet to his collection.
While his rise to stardom began on stage with a dream and guitar in hand, John Mayer’s remarkable music career has since intertwined with his love for luxury watches as a Brand Ambassador for Audemars Piguet. From early appearances on Hodinkee’s beloved ‘Talking Watches’ YouTube series to the debut of his very own limited-edition Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar model, Mayer’s passion for horology extends well past waitlists and hype pieces and into the complexity behind watch designs and movement innovations. Being the true collector and unfluential figure that he is, John Mayer is often the first to be spotted in exclusive AP releases and even piece uniqué examples. That happened to be the case two nights ago at Michigan Stadium (aka The Big House), where John Mayer made an appearance at Zach Bryan’s record-breaking concert wearing a never-before-seen Audemars Piguet.

While the concert is making waves in news headlines for breaking the record for the largest ticketed concert in U.S. history, the watch world is buzzing after catching a glimpse at the mysterious Royal Oak posted on Mayer’s Instagram. What looks to be the iconic silhouette of Audemars Piguet’s most historic creation has been completely customized with intricate engravings and etchings throughout the case, dial, and bracelet. The absence of sub-dials reveals its simplicity as a time-only model. At the same time, up-close photos give us the notion that the one-off celebrates haute horology with a design depicting the parts and pieces of a watch movement.
And while we cannot speculate on the actual model reference used or the main material of the watch, we can only hope that Audemars Piguet will soon inform us as to whether this is the next upcoming exclusive release or another piece uniqué Royal Oak we all dream of owning.
