Grand Seiko fits iconic models with new blue dials.
As we roll into a new year, the watch market continues to receive new models from luxury brands that sport new unique designs and styles. Grand Seiko is proud to unveil two new limited-edition timepieces for the U.S. market that draw inspiration from Japan’s twenty-four sekki, which translates to the ever-changing seasons. The two models making their appearance in the Heritage Collection are the SBGA471 and SBGH295. The Sōkō Edition releases include a dial design that celebrates Japan’s seasonal changes from Autumn to Winter.

The Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost SBGA471 features a 40mm stainless-steel case design with an elegant smooth bezel. Its dial design represents the first winter frost on the trunks of bamboo trees in the Arashiyama forest, as the ice blue finish beautifully displays the time, date, and power supply functions. Driving power to the Sōkō Frost SBGA471 is Grand Seiko’s 9R65 Spring Drive movement, which functions without an external power source and holds an impressive 72-hour power reserve. The transparent backcase highlights the craftsmanship behind the watchmakers, while the outer portion includes engravings to signify the special release. The Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost S comes available on a traditional stainless steel bracelet with an additional black crocodile leather strap for $6,000.

The Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost SBGH295 takes shape as a 40mm stainless-steel timepiece that incorporates inspiration from the clear blue skies over the Sea of Japan in early winter. The new kirazuri ‘ice blue’ texturized dial pays homage to an earlier interpretation first introduced in 2018. Delivering power to the time-only function of the SBGH295 is Grand Seiko’s in-house 9S85 Automatic manual-winding movement, capable of holding a 55-hour power reserve under a 100-meter water resistance. The clear sapphire back case allows for a closer look at the inner workings of the watch. The new Grand Seiko Sōkō Frost SBGH295 also comes on a traditional bracelet with an additional black leather strap and is available for $6,900.
