IWC Schaffhausen just added a fresh new colorway to its "Colors of TOP GUN" lineup, revealing the Pilot's Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Miramar in a head-turning light blue ceramic case. Inspired by the undershirts worn by elite U.S. Navy fighter instructors, this Pantone-certified color brings a vibrant aesthetic to IWC's aviation-inspired collection. Limited to just 1,000 pieces, the ceramic model (Ref. IW389409) features a matching blue dial, blue Super-LumiNova hands, and a rubber strap. IWC also introduced a non-limited stainless steel version (Ref. IW388117) with the same Miramar blue dial and strap, marking the first time IWC integrates a Pantone ceramic shade into a steel case.
The light blue ceramic version showcases IWC's industry-leading expertise in colored ceramics, achieved through a careful mix of zirconium oxide and metallic oxides. Getting the blue tone just right required extensive trial and error, especially when color-matching components like the dial and strap. Inside, both chronographs are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 caliber, a column-wheel chronograph movement that delivers 46 hours of power reserve and a vertical subdial layout for precise timing. The ceramic version features a titanium case back engraved with the iconic "TOPGUN" logo, while the steel model reveals the movement through a sapphire case back.
Aside from looks and functions, the models feature practical tech like IWC's EasX-CHANGE strap system, allowing for tool-free strap swaps with just a press of a button.
