The records include the highest price for a Patek Philippe Worldtime two-crown wristwatch with cloisonné enamel dial, as well as the highest price for a yellow gold wristwatch ever sold at auction. Following a long bidding war between nine telephones, with particularly strong participation from Asia, the legendary Patek Philippe reference 2523 sold for US$7,819,059 to an anonymous phone bidder with Phillips’ International Business Development Director Pansy Ku. The “Silk Road” is the earliest ever made Patek Philippe reference 2523 with cloisonné enamel dial and one of the most sought-after and unobtainable timepieces in the world. Previously unknown, it is a first of its kind, an extremely important and rare yellow gold worldwide wristwatch with two crowns and cloisonné dial.
