One of the world’s most celebrated names in motorsport has its sights set on one of the most revered global stages.
That’s right, as a power unit supplier, Audi will be joining the famed and storied Formula 1 World Championship in 2026. The year that Audi is joining will be a pivotal one, as in a part of the series’ effort to go net-zero carbon by 2030, Formula 1’s power unit regulations will retain the V6 combustion engines, but switch to using entirely sustainable fuel and increase electrical power. Audi’s move toward sustainability as a brand make it the perfect fit to contribute to these efforts.

It hasn’t been announced which team Audi will partner with yet, but Audi has already made big news with the announcement by becoming the first German manufacturer of F1 powertrains in more than a decade. In addition, Audi’s own engineering capabilities and this new F1 project coming together will undoubtedly spur exciting new innovation, growth, and hopefully special projects for both. While 4 years remain until this new venture goes into effect, the countdown begins to a new chapter for Audi and F1 alike.
