Bentley adds edgy accents to its new lineup.
For decades, luxury cars were known for their elegant style, classic proportions, and the generous use of chrome throughout their designs. However, tastes have since changed for many customers, and luxury car manufacturers have introduced matte and satin paintwork, as well as darker trim pieces to newer models, transforming the aesthetic of luxury cars to show off a darker, edgier look. Bentley, a manufacturer that has represented the highest echelon of luxury vehicles for much of its hundred-year history, offers the option for customers to choose darker or brighter trim, and for the new Continental GT/GTC and Flying Spur, those options have expanded further.
For the new Bentley Continental GT and GTC, as well as the new Bentley Flying Spur, Bentley is now offering a new Black Edition, which sports a dark aesthetic on the luxury grand tourer and on the ultra-luxe sedan. For the first time, the new Black Edition outfit includes a black “Winged B” emblem, as well as black Bentley lettering on the trunk lid. Where there would usually be chrome is also replaced with black trims, and the wheels are a special gloss black 10-spoke set.
In addition, Continentals equipped with Black Edition kit include the new Harmony headlamp design. Inside, features of the Black Edition include seat headrest embroidery, piano black veneers, special treadplates, contrast stitching, and optional features like comfort seats, the Bentley Rotating Display, mood lighting, and sports pedals.
However, looks aren’t the only benefit that Black Edition models receive. Of course, they are all powered by Bentley’s new High Performance Hybrid Powertrain, which uses a 4.0-liter V8 and a hybrid system to develop a massive 671 horsepower. In addition, sports exhaust enhances the sound experience for Black Edition models, and to enhance their sportiness, the Black Edition Continental and Flying Spur receive the Bentley Performance Active Chassis technology that was introduced with the more powerful Speed variants of the models.
The technology offers rear-wheel drive capabilities and performance-focused rear-wheel steering character in a new Sport driving mode. Bentley only plans to make 400 Black Edition models globally, so all the perks of the Black Edition are further complemented by exclusivity for owners. For those who want a Bentley with a unique, sporty edge, the opportunity has arrived.
