Bentley Motors is making waves in the automotive scene once again, but this time, it’s with a modern twist on classic nostalgia. At the Retromobile classic event in Paris, Bentley has revealed an astonishing creation: the road-legal, 85% scale version of its most iconic 1929 race car, named the Blower Jnr. The debut marks the European debut of a unique collaboration between Bentley’s Heritage Collection and The Little Car Company of Oxfordshire. Hand-crafted meticulously from 700 individual parts, the Blower Jnr mirrors the quality and attention to detail Bentley Motors is renowned for. This electric marvel pays tribute to the 4 ½ litre Supercharged Bentley, a legend in its own right and a symbol of racing prowess in its era. Inspired by Team Car No. 2, famously driven by ‘Bentley Boy’ Sir Tim Birkin, the Blower Jnr is a piece of history reborn.
Under its classic exterior sihlouette lies a modern heartbeat, a 48V electric powertrain and a 20 horsepower (15 kW) motor. Despite its compact size, this tandem two-seater packs a punch with a top speed of 45 mph and a range of up to 65 miles on a single charge. But it’s not all about speed and power. The Blower Jnr is a masterpiece of design, with every element thoughtfully crafted to evoke the original’s spirit. The front-mounted supercharger now houses a charging port, while the fuel pressure pump has been transformed into a drive mode selector. The rope-bound steering wheel adds a touch of vintage refinement.
For those seeking exclusivity, the first 99 units of the Blower Jnr will be First Edition Models, complete with unique badging and an engraved ‘1 of 99’ plaque. This little giant pays tribute to Bentley’s celebrated past, a nod to its innovative present, and a glimpse into the future of luxury motoring. Catch this electric piece of history at Retromobile, one of the classic car calendar’s key events, held at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles from January 31 to February 4, 2024.
