Meet 'Optimus Prime', the World's First Handicap Accessib...

T.J. duPerier is a disabled outdoorsman that doesn't let anything get in his way, especially when it comes to off-road trails. That's because he has 'Optimus Prime' to ride around in, the world's first handicap-accessible Ford Shelby Raptor. Optimus Prime has been heavily modified to allow duPerier's wheelchair to be lifted into the truck's passenger side in a simple fashion. Whoever modified this truck did a fantastic job because when the door is closed, you wouldn't even think that the entire passenger side opens up like a wing. On top of that, Optimus Prime is also an extremely powerful Shelby Raptor Baja truck, meaning it packs over 525 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. It also has all of the off-road features it needs to tackle mountain trails and more. Seriously, Optimus Prime is one of the meanest and groundbreaking trucks out there. Also, as a fan of Transformers, that's the best name ever. You can see the adventures of the truck by following @optimusprimeraptor. While you're at it, you should check out his cousin's non-profit called "Disabled Outdoorsmen USA" in which duPerier was the inspiration for. See Hennessey's V8 Raptor Destroy a Stock Raptor

Introducing the Ford Raptor with a twin-turbo V6 engine was a bold move by Ford. Purists scoffed at the idea of a six-cylinder engine powering a truck that's been such a powerhouse, especially . Thankfully, Ford did a great job with their EcoBoost engine and the new Raptors stand out as high-performance trucks. But don't we all just miss the sound of a V8 engine? Hennessey Performance recently performed an engine swap on a Raptor, replacing the V6 with a lovely 5.0-liter V8 engine from Ford. with a 2.9-liter supercharger attached. The result is a truck packing 758 horsepower that can scream. That's quite a bit more power compared to the stock Raptor, packing 450 horsepower but that didn't stop Hennessey from comparing the two in the video above. Hennessey notes that the gap between the two could be measured in bus lengths. Dang. view all raptors listed for sale

New Options for 2020 Hennessey VelociRaptor 6x6

If your lifted Raptor needs a custom touch, Hennessey Performance has the answer. The VelociRaptor is a 600 horsepower beast with new turbos, intercoolers, side-exit exhaust and a dyno tune. It offers 600 horsepower and 622 lb-ft of torque to all wheels, so what more could you need? How about another rear axle and a long bed? The VelociRaptor 6x6 has transformed the world of custom trucks. John Hennessey and his team have engineered a 6WD beast with 3 locking differentials. Both rear axles have more travel than a stock Raptor, and they are held in place by spherical rod ends. Extensions to the frame are laser cut from thick plate steel, and tig welded in a jig for precise geometry. But that is where the similarities end. Let's take a look at the options to see just how wild it can be. Because this process is so involved, there is ample time to add other upgrades to your ride. First up is new rubber. Because you are riding 3" higher, the 20" Hennessey wheels are available in any color. They arrive wrapped in 35" Toyo All Terrain tires, but Hennessey will choose any wheel or brand you desire. 2 Chainz filming the "Most Expensivest" for Viceland Next up are several options for LED lights. Light bars can be mounted above the windshield and on the roll bar, not to mention the front bumper and fog lights. The next area often upgraded is the factory audio. Hennessey Performance can seamlessly integrate reference-level speakers and more bass into your truck. A hint of armor has been mentioned for this year's SEMA show. If the aluminum body leaves you a bit vulnerable, the addition of steel inside the doors can be hidden in plain sight. This would also add weight, so that leads us to the last option. Post Malone's VelociRaptor 6x6 Build Although not listed on the 6x6 page, Hennessey does offer a V8 conversion for the Raptor. They install a new F150 5.0L V8 and wiring harness straight from the factory. A simple tune of the computer will unleash a Coyote under the hood. Post Malone wanted something truly unique, so each of the FOX Racing shocks had its own artwork. The Brembo calipers were powder-coated with barbed wire, and he left no options on the table. 2015 Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 Burnout & Test Drive

There is no denying that Ford’s innovative EcoBoost V6 is a powerful alternative to their V8, but if you want the ultimate F-150, John Hennessey has unveiled the second generation VelociRaptor. In a video uploaded to the Hennessey Performance YouTube page Sept. 3, he explains the more intricate details of the package, along with the obligatory burnout, and an Aug. 26 post to their Facebook page showed us this dino's exterior and improved engine. With two decades of supercharger experience under his belt, his team has developed a comprehensive package for the new truckm which is based around a 2.9-liter blower. Much like the modifications done to the HPE800 CTS-V, a large air-to-water heat exchanger is mounted up front, and linked to intercoolers inside the intake.Larger fuel injectors are included to take advantage of the boost, and with only 7 psi, the VelociRaptor makes up to 650 hp. Since the new trucks are primarily built of aluminum alloy, a weight savings of almost 700 lbs helps to provide blistering acceleration; 0-60 mph takes only 4.9 seconds in this monster. This is the most faithful reincarnation of the SVT Lightning that you will find, and the only one that carries a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. If you care about more than pavement performance, a host of off-road enhancements are also available. If your naturally aspirated truck needs more motivation, contact HPE at 979-885-1300 or visit their website at www.HennesseyPerformance.com. Stay tuned to Autofluence for more wild builds from Hennessey Performance.Gallery (Source: Hennessey Performance Engineering) See More Aftermarket News
