Aston Martin x Lucid Motors Shifts Gear to A New Electric Future

Iconic British automaker Aston Martin has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Lucid Motors, as part of its major shift towards creating industry-leading ultra-luxury high-performance electric vehicles. This comes alongside the continued collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, setting the stage for a new era in Aston Martin's storied history.

Aston Martin also announced its intent to leverage the advanced technologies offered by both Lucid Motors and Mercedes-Benz to underpin its future portfolio of electrified vehicles. This comprises a wide array of models including hypercars, sports, GTs, and SUVs. The cornerstone of this strategy lies in the newly-forged partnership with Lucid Motors, which will provide Aston Martin with access to its cutting-edge powertrain and battery technology, thereby serving as a significant boost to Aston Martin's ambitious electrification agenda.

The electrification strategy of the luxury car manufacturer is a core pillar of its broader "Racing. Green." sustainability initiative. It encompasses a massive $2.5 billion investment in technology over the next five years, and phases out from internal combustion engine (ICE) technology to battery electric vehicle (BEV) tech.

Lucid Motors' state-of-the-art electric vehicle powertrain technology, as well as the revolutionary 'Wunderbox' battery system, will be instrumental in propelling Aston Martin's move to an electrified future. Aston Martin will also continue to leverage the world-class powertrain and electric/electronic architectures provided by Mercedes-Benz, catering to a broad range of vehicle types including ICE, hybrid, and electric.

The agreement with Lucid Motors paves the way for Aston Martin to potentially fully electrify its core range by 2030, with the first plug-in hybrid - the mid-engined supercar, Valhalla – set to launch in 2024. This evolution towards electric powertrains marks a monumental shift for a marque known for its emotive internal combustion engines.

This historic collaboration underlines Aston Martin's resolution to emerge as a world-leading sustainable, ultra-luxury high-performance brand. It also signifies the first car manufacturer relationship for Lucid’s technology arm, which is expected to expand its products' reach and establish a pathway for more mainstream applications in the future. Aston Martin's next generation of electric vehicles, armed with Lucid's advanced technology, is primed to create a sustainable, high-performance automotive future.
