Over three decades have passed since the beginning of the automotive legend that is the Nissan Skyline GT-R, and as we know it, it started with the R32 generation of the Skyline GT-R. With its powerful straight-six engine, excellent engineering, and advanced all-wheel drive system, the Skyline GT-R was a formidable performance car that immediately made a notorious name for itself (specifically “Godzilla”), and as the R33 and R34 was introduced after it, it continued to build an incredible legacy. The R35 GTR took it to the next level, introducing a new V6 engine and refining the incredible GT-R formula with all-wheel drive to bring it to supercar levels of performance. However, to celebrate the legend, Nissan is going back to the beginning.
Produced by Nissan from 1989 to 1994, the R32 Skyline GT-R became a fan favorite for its advanced technology and immense power. Nissan's cutting-edge engineering capabilities made the R32 a dominant force in the racing world, winning numerous championships in Group A racing. Its blend of performance, handling, and durability has made it an enduring icon in the automotive world, continuing to attract car enthusiasts decades after its production ended. The R32 Skyline GT-R is being brought back to life, and to modernize the Japanese performance classic, it’s being revived as an electric vehicle. As a celebrated and legendary sports car, the upcoming electric version of the R32 is surely going to be an incredibly modern, innovative, and powerful re-imagination of one of the world’s favorite cars, featuring engineering that is inspired by the groundbreaking features of the original. With new electrification technology, this is an exciting new chapter for the automotive world’s storied Godzilla.
