As the first V12 plug-in hybrid-powered flagship supercar from the 60-year-old brand, the new Lamborghini Revuelto’s introduction signaled the beginning of a new and very different era for the brand, changing some of the core aspects that have characterized Lamborghini cars for the Fighting Bull brand’s entire history. In the latest in a series of videos that Lamborghini has published that chronicle the manufacturing, development, and overall creation of the new Revuelto, the historic manufacturer’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Federico Foschini, talks about the positioning strategy of the revolutionary supercar.
Lamborghini created the acronym “HPEV” to describe the Revuelto, standing for “High-Performance Electrified Vehicle,” rather than the typical “PHEV” used to describe most plug-in hybrids. While the Revuelto is in many ways a step away from many Lamborghini traditions, the name of the car keeps in tradition, as “Revuelto” is the name of a bull that fought in 1880. In addition, like its many predecessors, the new Lamborghini Revuelto is meant to be a futuristic interpretation of a high-performance car using cutting-edge engineering and technology, as well as a distinct style. As much as the Revuelto is different from the Lamborghinis before it, in the best ways it’s the same as well.
