Aston Martin Celebrates The 30-Year Legacy Of The V8 Vant...

Thirty years ago, Aston Martin's V8 Vantage V550 began its journey into the hands of a fortunate few as a true supercar of its era. Its unveiling at the British Motor Show in 1992 celebrated a new pinnacle of performance for the Aston Martin brand, and by the time deliveries commenced in 1993, it had already attained legendary status. The automotive world waits in anticipation, fueled by reviews from critics like Jeremy Clarkson, who admired its exceptional power. Packing a colossal 550 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque from a 5,340cc V8 engine. Amplified by twin Eaton M90 superchargers, the V550 promised, and delivered, a driving experience like no other. This power massive powertrain catapulted from 0-60 mph in a mere 4.6 seconds, racing to a top speed of 186 mph. The Aston Martin V550's exterior proportions were breathtaking, embodying the essence of what a supercar should be, wide, long, and impossible to ignore. Designers Ken Greely and John Heffernan crafted an icon with a distinctive front grille, heated glass-covered headlights, and bodywork that screamed luxury and aggression in equal measure. The V550's stopping power was equally impressive, boasting the world's largest brakes on any production car at the time. Coupled with Bosch ABS, the car's safety features were as robust as its performance credentials. Inside, the interior of the V550 features quintessential British luxury characteristics, including rich Connolly leather, plush Wilton carpets, and a generous application of burr walnut veneer. It also showcases modern conveniences such as electrically adjustable front seats and an airbag-embedded steering wheel, a first for Aston Martin. Priced at the equivalent of $540,000 today, only 239 units of the V550 were crafted, ensuring its status as a true collectible. As we mark 30 years since its introduction, the V8 Vantage V550 remains a treasured modern classic, revered by enthusiasts and experts alike. The Aston Martin Valkyrie Seeks To Dominate Le Mans In 2025

Heart of Racing is its partner in this endeavor to make racing history. In the fast-paced world of supercars and motorsports, Aston Martin is making significant waves. The luxury automotive giant is preparing its racing prototype of the ultimate hypercar, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, for a daunting challenge. The goal? Complete victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, set for 2025. Aston Martin’s involvement in the 24 Hours of Le Mans isn't a new chapter in their illustrious history. Their cars have seen action and triumph at Le Mans since the race's inception. Aston Martin’s association with this legendary event dates back to 1924, a mere five years after the inaugural race. Since then, they’ve clinched 19 class victories, with the crowning moment coming in 1959 when the DBR1 secured the top spot. But the Valkyrie is unique, even by Aston Martin's high standards. It’s one of the most ambitious performance machines to wear the historic Aston Martin badge. The heart of this beast, a Cosworth-built 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine, thunders with over 1000 horsepower. In its race-optimized version, the Valkyrie is set to drop jaws not just for its performance but its ties to its road car variant, a rarity in this echelon of racing. The announcement of the Valkyrie's foray into endurance racing coincides with Aston Martin's broader vision for 2024 and 2025. The company plans to have a presence in every significant global endurance racing format and Formula 1. This is a monumental commitment, signaling Aston Martin's intent to dominate motorsport globally. Additionally, they're gearing up to introduce new GT3 and GT4-homologated Aston Martin Racing-built cars, ensuring they have contenders across all racing classes. Heart of Racing , Aston Martin’s championship-winning endurance racing partner, will be at the forefront of this ambitious undertaking. They will be leading the charge by entering the Valkyrie racecar in top endurance events, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring. Their dedication to Aston Martin’s racing legacy is unwavering, and their involvement in this project is a testament to their commitment to the brand and the sport. Gabe Newell, the American entrepreneur behind HoR, has been an integral supporter of Aston Martin’s racing endeavors. His team has been with Aston Martin since its inception and has seen significant success, including a class victory at the Rolex 24. The bond between Aston Martin and HoR is one of shared vision, passion, and dedication to excellence in motorsport. In the words of Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin Lagonda, “Performance is the lifeblood of everything that we do at Aston Martin." Their return to the zenith of endurance racing will not just be a testament to their commitment to performance but will also forge deeper connections with their loyal fanbase and community. Aston Martin’s ambition is crystal clear: to lead and conquer. With the Valkyrie as their spearhead and backed by a legacy of success, they're poised to make an indelible mark on the world of motorsports. Aston Martin Reveals That Production Of The F1-Inspired V...

Aston Martin's Valhalla mid-engine supercar is utilizing Formula 1 technology, slated for production in 2024. The Aston Martin Valhalla is starting to emerge as the road and track weapon it was designed to be, thanks to its strategic use of Formula 1 technology and performance. Unveiled as the brand’s first series production mid-engine supercar, the Valhalla aims to deliver a truly exceptional driving experience. Collaborating closely with the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One team (AMF1), Aston Martin is blending race-proven expertise with its signature luxury to create the ultimate supercar. Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand and Commercial Officer of Aston Martin emphasized the exchange between Aston Martin's road car engineers and AMF1's F1 engineering capabilities focused on three key areas: dynamics, aerodynamics, and materials. The driving dynamics of the Valhalla have been fine-tuned through track-inspired simulations. Astonishingly, 90% of its dynamic features were completed in simulation, with real-world testing reserved for the final development phase. Valhalla’s aerodynamics come directly from F1's book, utilizing an active aerodynamic system to achieve over 1,323 pounds of downforce at 149 mph. In terms of high-tech materials, AMPT and AMF1 have shared their know-how in crafting carbon-fiber structures to create an incredibly stiff, strong, and lightweight chassis for Valhalla. Powering the Valhalla is a bespoke twin-turbo flat-plane V8 engine, assisted by three e-motors, to produce an impressive 998 horsepower through a hybrid all-wheel-drive powertrain. Additionally, the Valhalla is also part of Aston Martin's broader strategy to transition to hybrid and electric vehicles. Scheduled to hit the roads as a running prototype later this year, the Valhalla aims to set a new benchmark in supercar performance when it enters production in 2024. THE ASTON MARTIN DB5 AT 60 01

By Jordan Aquistapace –  September 13, 2023

The Aston Martin DB5 Celebrates 60 Years Of Automotive Ex...

As the Aston Martin DB5 hits the 60-year milestone, we dive into its storied past and present, along with its timeless appeal. When it comes to iconic automobiles, few can hold a candle to the Aston Martin DB5. Sixty years ago, Aston Martin introduced the DB5, immediately solidifying its status as one of Britain’s most desirable luxury brands. As Aston Martin celebrates its 60th anniversary, DB5 remains a head-turner, most recently commanding attention at the Goodwood Revival festival in Sussex. Alongside it was the DB12, Aston Martin's latest model, showcasing how the brand's DNA continues to evolve while paying homage to its successful past. Aston Martin’s Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll, a DB5 owner, commended the car for laying the "foundations of our identity as a British luxury brand synonymous with style, performance, and exclusivity." In 1963, Aston Martin was already popular thanks to its DB4, but the DB5 took things to a new level. Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the car boasted a range of improvements, most notably a 4.0L engine putting out 282 horsepower. Icons from Sir Paul McCartney to Mick Jagger have been part of the DB5 club. The DB5 is a masterpiece of British engineering, produced in limited numbers (only 887 saloons, to be precise) at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell factory. Despite its limited production, the DB5 was instrumental in skyrocketing Aston Martin from a niche British sports car maker to a global automotive superstar. While the DB5 remains a cornerstone in automotive history, Aston Martin isn’t resting there. The all-new DB12, introduced as the world’s first Super Tourer, is proof that the brand is committed to innovation without sacrificing what made it great in the first place.
