Broad Arrow Auctions achieved a record-setting result yesterday, with the $8,035,000 sale of a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 during a single-car live auction held at the Allegretto Vineyard Resort in Paso Robles, California. The event took place as an official stop along the California Mille rally, marking the first public North American auction of the T.50 and setting a new benchmark price for Gordon Murray’s flagship hypercar in the global collector car market. The record-setting result proves that there’s a growing demand for modern analog hypercars with low production numbers and motorsport-derived engineering.

The example sold, chassis 009, is one of 100 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s and was delivered in near-new condition, with fewer than 30 miles on the odometer. Finished in bespoke Reef Red, the GMA T.50 features a 3.9L naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 engine with 661 horsepower at 11,000 rpm and a maximum redline of 12,100 rpm. Power is managed through a six-speed manual transmission, working in unison with active aero and a fan-assisted ground-effect system. With a dry weight under 2,200lbs, the T.50 is recognized as one of the most driver-focused modern hypercars, conceived by Gordon Murray and inspired by his involvement on the McLaren F1.

The auction took place during a private dinner for California Mille guests, where multiple bidders competed in the room before the final hammer. The buyer was identified as a rally participant, where five examples of the T.50 were showcased. A portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation and McPherson College Automotive Restoration Program, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
