Bentley Teases First EV & Announces Hybrids Until 2035

Bentley adjusts its Beyond100 ambitions and its path to electrification.

For years, Bentley has been one of the most eager and ambitious luxury car manufacturers when it comes to futurism and sustainability, with its Beyond100 plans that were unveiled around the brand’s 100th anniversary outlining its ambitions to transform its lineup and introduce radical approaches to sustainability not only in what powers its vehicles, but also in how it produces those vehicles, with a factory and manufacturing process dedicated to sustainability, as well.

Since then, consumer demand for electric vehicles has changed, and Bentley’s latest announcement has seen its plans change course slightly. Bentley is still eager to introduce electric vehicles, with the first, a “luxury urban SUV,” set to be launched next year. Designed for everyday driving opulence, the vehicle, which isn’t named yet, is going to be less than five meters long, and charge from zero to a hundred miles of range in less than seven minutes.

Meanwhile, hybrid Bentley models like the current Continental GT and Continental GT Speed, for example, are going to be available until at least 2035, marking a major change in Bentley’s electrification timeline, and new non-hybrid models are still part of the picture, too. The new Bentayga Speed is a non-hybrid model, and another non-hybrid model, likely the upcoming new Continental Supersports, is set to be revealed before the end of this year. With adjusted plans, Bentley is continuing to pursue both sustainability and ultra-luxury automotive excellence with Beyond100.
