The Bentley Foundation is the charitable foundation of Bentley Motors, the century-old luxury automotive manufacturer that continues to set new standards in performance, exclusivity, luxury, and artisan craftsmanship. Through the Bentley Foundation, the manufacturer enhances communities and future generations with its support of environmental, cultural, and educational work.
The foundation’s first philanthropic partner is The Queen’s Reading Room, and the second philanthropic partner has just been announced: the National Portrait Gallery. Founded in 1856, the National Portrait Gallery celebrates Britain’s artistic heritage and history with portraits and shares the world’s largest collection of portraits. Through its partnership, The Bentley Foundation is supporting the National Portrait Gallery’s Photo Portrait Now program.
The higher education program sees the National Portrait Gallery collaborating with six universities across England and Wales, exploring contemporary portrait photography, and giving underrepresented groups greater access to photographic art. Part of the project sees students producing original portrait photography that responds to the themes of the 2025 Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize. Student works from the program are publicly exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, with a symposium celebration that brings students together with industry professionals and curators.
