While the configuration process for most common luxury cars today seems less exciting, with scaled-back color options and a few convenient packages to elevate the interior, they still give owners the opportunity to spec a car based on their tastes. Now, when you make the decision to opt for Bugatti’s newest flagship hypercar, the $4 million Tourbillon, buyers are not only given complete creative control, but also work closely with the manufacturer to make their wildest dreams come true.
Giving enthusiasts a behind-the-scenes look at the Tourbillon’s engineering and production through its YouTube docuseries, A New Era, Bugatti dives into the mastery of interior design on its latest episode, Episode 14: Automotive Couture.
The undertaking of styling not only one of the fastest and most expensive hypercars but also the future of the brand itself is assigned to its in-house CMF (Color, Material, and Finish) team. At the center of that process is Sabine Consolini, Bugatti’s Head of CMF, whose team is tasked with shaping every tactile and visual surface that defines the Tourbillon experience.
Inside Bugatti’s Design Studio, where clients are invited for private configuration sessions, materials are treated as works of art themselves. For the first time in Bugatti history, fabrics are now part of the Tourbillon’s interior palette. That includes hand-woven textiles sourced from Kyoto, Japan, crafted with metallic yarn and washi paper strips, as well as knitted fabrics that create 3D effects under shifting light.
True to the brand’s philosophy, every surface remains natural, aluminum is real aluminum, glass is real glass, and new leather is softer thanks to a new tanning process created specifically for the Tourbillon. The watch-inspired instrument cluster, developed alongside Swiss horology specialists, brings haute horology into the cockpit. From diamond-infused paint finishes to one-of-one color commissions, the Bugatti Tourbillon cements a real relationship between the brand and owner.
