McLaren W1 First Drive: Ferocious Hypercar Transcends the Track

You know things are getting serious when McLaren rolls-out the ‘1’ suffix. The origin story is, of course, the very first road car McLaren ever built, the F1. Designed by visionary Formula 1 aerodynamicist and engineer Gordon Murray, it arrived in 1992 and rendered all other supercars obsolete. The tiny, lightweight F1 embraced carbon-fibre material technology, adopted a radical centre seat driving position with two passengers set back and either side and was powered by a 6.1-litre V12 engine from BMW that might as well have been passed down directly from the Gods. Game-changer? That doesn’t even come close to describing its impact, even if at the time sales didn’t come easy… The P1 was very different. Rather than a unique side project from the Formula 1 team, it was instead a statement piece for McLaren Automotive, a new road car division still in its infancy. It arrived in 2013 and was a wild-eyed showstopper. It traded the long-legged gait and supple suspension of the F1 for a weaponized hybrid system capable of delivering 903bhp and huge blue flames from its drainpipe exhaust. In Race mode, it lowered by 2-inches and its massive concave rear wing extended into the sky. The P1 was all about aerodynamic downforce, crazed acceleration and a snorting, angry soundtrack that mixed venomous twin-turbocharged V8 with the manic whirr of electric motors. Not so much a car as a force of nature. And now there’s this: The W1. It’s a true successor to the P1 with a similar brief and, on the face of it, it evolves rather than radically reinvents McLaren’s vision for the ultimate hypercar. This is not a criticism. How could it be when the result is this dramatic and has such staggering, other-worldly potential? The W1 has 1258bhp delivered to the rear wheels. It’s capable of 0-124 mph in 5.8-seconds, the quarter mile in 9.6-seconds at 167 mph and produces 2205lbs of downforce at 174 mph. The active aerodynamics – particularly a rear wing that extends way out beyond the rear of the car – are pure performance art and deliver massive aerodynamic efficiency. The result, aside from looking extremely cool, is that the W1 is McLaren’s fastest road car around a racetrack. Ever. Their benchmark circuit is the breath-taking Handling Track at the Nardo proving ground in southern Italy, where the W1 beats their previous benchmark, the flyweight McLaren Senna, by three seconds per lap. Or “a lifetime” as they call it in racing. Maybe two lifetimes! Core to the W1’s performance is the new ‘Aerocell’ carbon fibre tub. With integrated seats and a raised footwell to allow for inboard pushrod-operated front suspension – which in turn gives air a clean path to the huge underbody diffuser – it’s light, stiff, space efficient and has been instrumental in McLaren realising a full ground-effect concept. Just like last year’s F1 cars, which were the fastest ever made. There is also an active front wing and the aforementioned complex rear wing dubbed ‘Active Long Tail’. All of which is very admirable. But the ‘anhedral’ or gullwing doors and the fantastically shirnked-wrapped feel to the minimalist, highly-focussed interior are a pretty good side effect. The W1 feels special. Those fixed seats are perhaps a shade more upright than expected, and the driving position is less obviously racecar than, for example, the Aston Martin Valhalla or Ferrari F80. However, once you’ve adjusted the pedals (they move on a slider) and the delicate, slim-rimmed and alcantara-trimmed steering wheel, there’s an overwhelming sense of purpose. The cabin is so tightly tailored and imparts a sense of lightness and agility before you so much as start the all-new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which makes 916bhp all on its own and revs to 9200rpm. Reach up to a roof-mounted control panel to find the starter button. Maybe this fighter plane trope is a little corny, but somehow you feel thrilled rather than manipulated. The W1 has a sense of humour as well as all that motorsport-derived sophistication. There’s a short delay, but when the engine does fire it’s instant – as the high-powered hybrid system negates the need for an old-school starter motor. A sharp flare of revs tells you that this engine is hyper-responsive and angry. On some deep level your brain and body have been sent all the signals required to prepare for something new and intense. Ahead of us, an empty Mugello racetrack, so press and hold the blue button next to the red starter to select Race mode. The centre display graphic shows the W1’s transformation in real time as it lowers by 37mm at the front and 17mm at the rear whilst simultaneously undocking all that active aero goodness. Race mode is not road legal and is geo-locked. You can show your friends and neighbours the aero dance, but it won’t allow you to select a gear to actually drive unless you’re at a circuit. Incidentally, the rocker switches either side of the display binnacle allow further options now: Toggle up the Handling control on the left for Race+ (for F1-spec super smooth tracks) or stick to Race for gnarlier ones. On the right toggle select ‘GP’ for sustained performance over a stint or ‘Sprint’ to unleash all 1258bhp for a time attack. There’s also a DRS and Boost function on the steering wheel. But I guarantee you won’t have the mental capacity to use them… Exit the pitlane, pin the throttle and W1 takes maybe a millisecond or two to gather its might (the gearing stretches to around 60mph in first, nearly 100mph in second, primarily to aid traction), but then lunges at the first turn with incredible ferocity. It instantly feels light, almost like inertia is no longer a thing. McLaren really does prize lightweight engineering, and at 3084lbs (dry) the W1 has a 278lbs advantage over the Ferrari F80. Plus, Ferrari uses figures for cars fitted with every single carbon fibre option. In reality, the gap is probably wider still. The impression of agility and stunning control continues as the track is unravelled at startling pace. The electric motor mounted to the side of the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission is good for 342bhp and 324lb ft and it boosts any low rev lethargy the new flat-plane crank V8 might have (spoiler alert: It doesn’t appear to have any), so the W1 just feels massively, almost impossibly powerful at any revs. Even so, there’s real reward for wringing it out to 9200rpm and the power curve feels superheated but organic, too. In Race mode the steering – still hydraulically powered – has less assistance and it is noticeably heavier than other McLarens. However, that resistance is welcome as it gives you something to push against and imparts so much information about the front grip level. New Pirelli Trofeo RS tyres with a bigger front footprint than P1 or Senna really help. The front-end feels incredibly secure and the rear-axle follows with perfectly-aligned precision. The whole car feels super-stiff, completely locked into the surface and inspires confidence, but there’s an inherent agility and adjustability that means you’re quickly confident to push at its limits and really impose yourself on the chassis. It’s such a complex car but the driving experience is intuitive, and the driver feels a key contributor rather than just amazed (or terrified) observer, holding on for dear life. Every dynamic ingredient really is shockingly effective and yet has a subtlety and lightness of touch. From that delicious steering to the incredible brakes, the W1 just feels so mission-focussed, so hooked-up. Only the new 8-speed gearbox is a slightly disappointment. It’s fast and punchy, but after the scintillating energy of the Ferrari F80 ’box it feels competent rather than inspired. Other quibbles – it’s okay to quibble when the starting price is $2.1-million before tax and destination charge. Well, that new twin-turbocharged V8 sounds tightly wound and aggressive but if you have a P1 tucked in the garage you’ll miss the snorting, Darth Vader-style soundscape and all the drama that goes with it. Ferrari does this better, too. The F80 sounds deathly dull from the outside but is a riot of turbochargers, electric motors and all sorts of mechanical fury within the cockpit. Even so, the W1 is wildly entertaining on track, and the rear-drive configuration makes it more of a challenge and more satisfying than the F80 when chasing lap times or just sliding around for fun. In the Ferrari, you must second-guess what the front e-axle might do, whereas in the W1 it’s all on you. There are plenty of tools to help, including the ingenious Variable Drift Control, but somehow the W1 is more heroic. Or at least fools you into feeling more heroic – which is surely the point! On the road? Nimble, loaded with feel and sublime response. The ride is noticeably tougher than, say, a 750S but the control is ramped-up too, and with a bit more speed the whole car finds a delicious rhythm. Sport mode for the drivetrain brings some nice turbo whooshes and chirps, but the noise remains high-quality rather than extreme excitement. It is perhaps the one area the W1 feels just a little too tame. Of course, there’s nothing tame about the raw performance… which is genuinely shocking and literally hurts your neck muscles after a few hours. How McLaren has given the W1 such immense traction through just two driven wheels is beyond me. So, is it worthy of that ‘1’? I think so. Perhaps we won’t be talking about $25-million auction results for the W1 in 30 years from now, as we are for the F1. Perhaps it doesn’t quite have the amazing presence and jaw-dropping star quality of the simply gorgeous P1. But it is such an intense experience and the way it marries stunning track performance with delicate poise and entertainment on normal roads is something akin to magic. Maybe not ‘the one’ but definitely a searing, outrageous addition to McLaren’s fiercest family line. Just 399 W1’s will be built and they’re all sold. I’m not surprised at all. Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari F40 Dream Has Finally Come True

Known for his talents on the racetrack, where he earned seven F1 World Championships over 20 seasons, Lewis Hamilton’s love for speed and cars extends well beyond the race paddock. Earning stardom in the sport after starting out in karting alongside a father who worked multiple jobs to support his son’s passion, Lewis’ success on and off the track has also allowed him to own some seriously incredible cars over the years, including a Pagani Zonda 760 LH, Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, and Mercedes-AMG ONE, just to name a few. But while some of those now-god-tier cars have come and gone, there’s one that Lewis has long dreamed of owning since childhood: the legendary Ferrari F40.That dream has now become a reality for the Scuderia Ferrari F1 driver as he just took to Instagram to reveal his very own Ferrari F40 as the latest addition to the collection. Lewis shared in the caption that the F40 has been a dream of his for as long as he can remember, and when he joined Ferrari last year, he made sure one was waiting for him on his first day at Maranello. As one of the wealthiest drivers in Formula 1 history, you might expect Lewis to go for a pristine, fully restored F40 that was ready to hit the road the moment it arrived. But you’d be wrong. Instead, Lewis searched far and wide to find this one, covered in dust after sitting in a garage for over thirty years, ready for someone to bring it back to life. And that’s exactly what he’s doing. Before finding its way into Lewis’ garage, the F40 was shipped back to Maranello, where master engineers and technicians at Ferrari’s Classiche department are carrying out an extensive engine-out restoration and documentation process to return the car to factory showroom condition. Undertaking a journey like this is something right up his alley, building a connection with the car long before turning a key, learning all the ins and outs along the way. And as if things couldn’t have worked out better for Lewis, he even shared photos of F40 parts stamped with the number 44, tying his iconic racing number to his dream car and making the story behind the car even more special.Still a long way until the Ferrari F40 is on the road with an F1 World Champion behind the wheel going through gears, Lewis has promised to share more updates and moments along the way with fans and followers. Tom Cruise Confirms Days of Thunder Sequel for 2028

Tom Cruise is heading back to NASCAR. The veteran Hollywood actor confirmed a sequel to Days of Thunder on Saturday at Daytona International Speedway, with Anne Hathaway joining him for the announcement. Paramount Pictures has set the film for a June 2, 2028, summer release. Cruise returns as Cole Trickle, the NASCAR driver he first played in Tony Scott's 1990 original, with Hathaway playing the role as team owner and engineer. Both stars appeared together at Daytona International Speedway beside a battered lime-green stock car that looks well-used, complete with race grime, scuffed bodywork and Eagle-branded tires. The original Days of Thunder from 1990, which also features on our list of top car movies, followed the rookie driver as he worked his way through NASCAR, initially clashing with veteran racer Rowdy Burns, played by Michael Rooker. Robert Duvall starred as crew chief Harry Hogge, while Nicole Kidman played neurosurgeon Dr. Claire Lewicki. The story ultimately brought Trickle to the Daytona 500, making the speedway an obvious setting for his return nearly four decades later. NASCAR has remained a fixture of American screen culture in the decades since, providing the racing world that inspired Disney Pixar's Cars. Last year we saw another unusual meeting of the two when NASCAR announced plans to turn Naval Base Coronado into a temporary race circuit, an event we fittingly described at the time as Top Gun meeting Days of Thunder. The film also arrives as motorsport continues to enjoy a strong presence on the big screen. Bruckheimer recently produced the Brad Pitt-starrer F1: The Movie, while Cruise made a surprise appearance at the film’s European premiere in London last year, where he joined Bruckheimer, director Joseph Kosinski, Brad Pitt and Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. As for Cruise, his time with cars on screen extends well beyond Days of Thunder. The Mission: Impossible films have put Ethan Hunt at the center of elaborate car chases and motorcycle stunts, with everything from classic BMWs to modern M cars. Jonathan Levine will direct the upcoming film from a script by Will Staples while Cruise produces alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Tommy Harper. The sequel is being made for IMAX screens and is planned for an exclusive theatrical release, including premium formats such as Dolby Cinema and 4DX. When Days of Thunder returns to theaters in June 2028, it will be over 38 years since Cruise got behind the wheel as Cole Trickle. For now, Paramount has revealed little about where Cole Trickle's story goes next. But the first look already makes one thing clear. T-Pain Brought His Koenigsegg Regera to Monterey Car Week

Monterey Car Week is in full swing, once again proving why it remains one of the most anticipated weeks on the automotive calendar. Whether it’s a carefully curated auction lineup, a luxury event at one of the manufacturer houses, or simply spotting cars while making your way around the peninsula, rare classics and exclusive hypercars seem to be waiting around every corner. Along with all the cars come the owners and collectors who bring out some of their best for the week, and one of them is music icon, avid car enthusiast, and drifter T-Pain. After going viral earlier this year with the delivery of his exposed carbon Koenigsegg Regera, he’s joining in on the fun this year, taking part in rallies and events throughout the week.T-Pain and Nappy Boy Automotive kicked off Monterey Car Week with Koenigsegg’s Ghost Squadron Tour, joining Christian von Koenigsegg and around 30 other owners for the drive from Lake Tahoe to Monterey. In addition to his Regera, the priceless group of hypercars featured the entire lineage of Koenigsegg’s greatest creations, including multiple examples of the Agera, Jesko, Gemera, CC850, CCX, and more. Having completed nearly 300 miles of driving, with scenic stops, planned events, and even an impromptu run-in with the Nevada Highway Patrol, T-Pain most definitely enjoyed his time behind the wheel, captioning an Instagram post saying, “What an adventure putting millions of dollars of hypercars on the street and soaking in every mile. Let’s do it again!” Last night, T-Pain and the Nappy Boy Automotive team headed to Motorlux at the Monterey Jet Center, where the aircraft hangars were transformed into one of the week’s biggest nights. Supercars, hypercars, private jets, and plenty of other luxury toys filled the space, making for a pretty fitting Monterey Car Week setting. Mike Tyson's Former Ferrari F50 Heads to Auction at Monterey Car Week

There’s no denying that Monterey Car Week is one of the most anticipated weeks on the automotive calendar, and with that notoriety and excitement from enthusiasts, auction houses bring out their very best to draw crowds of bidders and break records. For this year’s festivities, RM Sotheby’s has already teased an incredible lineup of supercars and hypercars, including Nick Mason’s 1996 McLaren F1 GTR prototype, a brand new 2025 Bugatti Mistral, and each of Ferrari’s ‘Big Five’ supercars. Tucked away in that fleet of five Maranello masterpieces is a 1996 Ferrari F50 originally owned by professional boxing legend “Iron” Mike Tyson, which will be auctioned off as part of The Monterey Auction on Saturday, August 15th. Estimated to bring between $7 million and $9 million, the Ferrari F50 has finally received the recognition it deserves, not only as the F40's successor, but as one of Ferrari's most important anniversary models. Finished in the Ferrari’s signature combination of Rosso Corsa over a Nero interior with red seat inserts, this US-spec Ferrari F50 rolled off the production line in early 1996 before making its way to Beverly Hills Sports Car in California. Tyson purchased the car shortly after reclaiming the undisputed heavyweight championship, making the F50 a celebratory gift to himself during one of the biggest moments of his career. While his ownership lasted less than a year, it's enough to make this example stand apart from the majority of F50s on the market. GALLERY-EMBED The story doesn't stop there either. Over the last three decades, chassis 104220 has passed through the hands of several well-respected Ferrari collectors, each helping preserve its originality and overall condition. Along the way, the car received meticulous servicing, including an engine-out service, clutch rebuild, lighting upgrades, a replacement fuel tank, and a recent major service completed by Ferrari of Newport Beach. Even more important to serious collectors, the car earned Ferrari Classiche certification in 2008, confirming its matching-numbers chassis, engine, transaxle, and bodywork. With just 6,196 miles showing on the odometer, it’s prepped for the next owners to enjoy more miles behind the wheel. Being one of only 349 Ferrari F50s ever built, the model has become one of the most desirable entries in Ferrari's celebrated "Big Six" lineup, with values continuing to climb as collectors recognize its Formula 1-inspired engineering, naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V12, and analog driving experience. This example takes things a step further with an impressive collection of factory items and sports memorabilia, including the original luggage set, owner's manuals, sales literature, hardtop, and even a pair of Everlast boxing gloves signed by Mike Tyson. Shygirl - BB Nissan Silvia/200SX (S14) British electronic artist Shygirl rides along in an S14 Nissan 200SX/Silvia (in North America, the model was marketed as the 240SX), and it's being drifted by a driver who is credited as Jazz Singh. While many of the Nissan Silvia generations spent years as inexpensive, entry-level sports cars, they were always celebrated for their lightweight construction, front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, and are quickly becoming cherished classics thanks to those attributes. Vanessa Williams - Happiness Mercedes-Benz 280 (W114) It doesn't show up for long in the video, at least in an intact state, but in the video for "Happiness," a 1997 single by Vanessa Williams that samples "I Can't Wait" by Nu Shooz and "(Not Just) Knee Deep" by Funkadelic, the '70s Mercedes, which we assume was already destined for destruction, gets crushed by a Ford monster truck. In other shots, the historically infamous Miss America pageant winner turned entertainment powerhouse sings to the song's lyrics while sitting on the truck's tire. Drake - I'm Upset Ferrari LaFerrari Canadian rapper Drake is known for his undeniably lavish lifestyle, including collections of custom jewelry, Hermès handbags, and, of course, exotic cars. The Ferrari LaFerrari, one of the rarest and most venerated modern Prancing Horses, is one of the most prominent vehicles in his garage, and it features in the music video for his song "I'm Upset." The Weeknd - Starboy McLaren P1 Hailing from Canada, R&B singer/songwriter The Weeknd is known for his signature dark aesthetic and unique vocals. The title track for his third album, Starboy, features iconic French electronic music duo Daft Punk, and the music video prominently features the McLaren P1, one of the legendary "Holy Trinity" hybrid hypercars, with the song's lyrics referencing the car, as well. Sammy Hagar - I Can't Drive 55 Ferrari 512 BBi In the '70s and '80s, the National Maximum Speed Law made 55 miles per hour the highest speed that anyone in the United States could drive at. After getting a speeding ticket for doing 62 in upstate New York, artist Sammy Hagar wrote the song, and its music video features his black Ferrari 512 BBi being chased by the police. Monica - A Dozen Roses (You Remind Me) Fisker Tramonto Atlanta-based R&B songstress Monica samples Curtis Mayfield in this song, where she compares a lover to many of the finer things in life, including a “Bentley coupe.” However, the car she drives herself in the video is a Fisker Tramonto, a open-top rarity coachbuilt by Henrik Fisker and based on the Mercedes-Benz SL. Only 15 of them were ever built. Wale - Chillin Mercedes-Benz SL 65 AMG Black Series Black Series, as enthusiasts would know, is a rare designation within the AMG canon that goes to cars that not only receive the AMG treatment beyond typical Mercedes-Benz performance, but go even further towards weight savings and track-focused enhancements. The SL 65 AMG Black Series is one of the earlier models to get the Black Series treatment, and it turned the V12-powered SL 65 hardtop convertible into a monstrous coupe, which stared in Wale’s “Chillin” alongside featured artist Lady Gaga. Missy Elliott - She's A B**ch Jaguar XJ220 Once the world’s fastest production car, the Jaguar XJ220 is one of the most interesting supercars from the ‘90s, introduced as a concept that was going to feature all-wheel drive and a V12 engine, and instead had rear-wheel drive and a racing-derived twin-turbo V6, still snagging the coveted distinction of fastest production car in its time. Not long after its reign in the world of supercars, the now retrofuturistic silver XJ220 fit perfectly in the avant-garde, minimalistic aesthetic of this Missy Elliott video. WJSN - Secret Ferrari 400i K-pop is no stranger to featuring cars in music videos, with groups seen in videos performing tight choreography in front of exotic cars quite often. However, one of the most unique appearances of an exotic car in a K-pop video came in the video for Secret, the 2016 hit single from WJSN, or Cosmic Girls. The boxy, retro Ferrari 400i touring coupe features dainty lace seat covers in the video and serves as a V12-powered spaceship. Nicki Minaj, Cassie - The Boys Campagna T-Rex Rapper Nicki Minaj is known for a bold, defiant aesthetic, and many of her earlier projects were marked by bright neon colors and a style reminiscent of cartoons. In the music video for her song with Cassie, “The Boys,” the almost alien-looking, motorcycle engine-powered, three-wheel Campagna T-Rex added to the unique aesthetic. Keyshia Cole - I Ain't Thru Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe A virtually universal symbol of the pinnacle of luxury, the Rolls-Royce Phantom has long been a favorite in music videos. However, in the video for Keyshia Cole’s “I Ain’t Thru,” Cole and her featured artist in the song, Nicki Minaj, are seen riding around in the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, as opposed to the typical Phantom sedan. Jay-Z & Kanye West - Otis Maybach 57 There’s no talking about cars in music videos without talking about this one. Jamiroquai - Cosmic Girl Ferrari F355 , Lamborghini Diablo SE30, Ferrari F40 Directed by Adrian Moat and filmed in Spain, the music video for Cosmic Girl by Jamiroquai entirely consists of shots of three legendary supercars being driven along the stunning location’s mountain roads. An avid car collector to this day, Jay Kay apparently had to drive the Lamborghini Diablo with no windshield, the result of a few car-related mishaps during the video’s production. Tyla - PUSH 2 START TVR 350i South African pop star Tyla has risen to international stardom since the virality of her song “Water,” but PUSH 2 START, with a car-related title, got a car wash-themed video to match. A number of iconic cars like the Chevrolet Corvette and Mazda RX-7 can be seen in the video, but one of the most interesting cars on the set is a TVR wedge convertible. Kelis - Bossy Ferrari Enzo Featuring rapper Too $hort, “Bossy” by Kelis sees the singer in various glamorous settings, including being behind the wheel of one of Ferrari’s most valuable and legendary creations, the Enzo of the early 2000s. Today, the Enzo is hallowed in the exclusive circle of Ferrari’s halo cars, and fetches incredible prices on the rare occasions an example is sold or auctioned off. Tony Yayo - So Seductive Mercedes-Benz CLS Featuring 50 Cent, the video for “So Seductive” by Tony Yayo sees the rapper dream of breaking out of prison to be picked up by 50 Cent in a Mercedes-Benz CLS, which, launched with a unique four-seat layout, was incredibly exotic in its time. Its dramatic silhouette and driver-focused luxury birthed a new genre of cars, the four-door coupe, which would become a popular segment among luxury marques like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz still represented today. Whitney Houston - Heartbreak Hotel Rolls-Royce Corniche In this anthem full of powerhouse vocals, Whitney Houston filmed the video for “Heartbreak Hotel” in Miami, walking along the beach and throwing a beautiful, long white fur coat into the waves, seemingly as a reaction to the heartbreak in question. However, at the beginning of the video, Houston arrives in Miami on a private jet, met by the two featured singers, Kelly Price and Faith Evans, in a Rolls-Royce Corniche. The trio then arrives at Miami’s iconic National Hotel. Lil' Kim - The Jump Off Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet Lil’ Kim’s iconic “The Jump Off,” featuring Mr. Cheeks, got an equally iconic music video, and throughout, Kim is seen in a rare white G-Class Cabriolet, opening the convertible top, and dancing with friends who are standing in the back with the top open. Mariah Carey - Say Somethin' Maserati Quattroporte Known for her extravagance, Mariah Carey is being followed by paparazzi around Paris in her video for "Say Somethin'," in the back of a Maserati Quattroporte, which was very new and exotic at the time, sat next to Pharrell Williams, who produced the song. Other highlights of the video include a Louis Vuitton shopping trip with fashion legend Andre Leon Talley, and iconic scenes of the City of Light. Migos - Motorsport Lamborghini Diablo, Ferrari Testarossa, Lamborghini Countach Featuring Nicki Minaj and Cardi B, this song was the catalyst for hot button pop culture moments that are still relevant today. However, the video for the song is iconic for automotive enthusiasts in its own right, as appropriately to its title, it features quite a few exotic cars, including two different examples of the Lamborghini Countach. Samantha Fox - Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now Alfa Romeo Spider In a breakup anthem all about the act of leaving, the music video for Samantha Fox's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now" is vaguely themed on the '80s pop icon operating different vehicles. One of those is a retro icon and a modern classic of driving pleasure: the Alfa Romeo Spider, which she tosses luggage into before driving away on a particularly scenic road. In addition to the charming Italian convertible, Samantha also drives a boat and flies a plane in the video. Destiny's Child - Soldier Land Rover Range Rover The Range Rover, one of the most ubiquitous and iconic luxury SUVs on the market, can be seen behind Beyoncé as she sings in the black and white music video for "Soldier," one of the hit singles from the group's final album, Destiny Fulfilled. Terror Squad - Lean Back Cadillac XLR, BMW 7 Series, Rolls-Royce Phantom The Billboard Hot 100-topping "Lean Back," by Terror Squad, featuring Fat Joe and Remy Ma, features the Rolls-Royce Phantom in the background, along with the iconic Cadillac XLR, and the BMW 7 Series, which Remy Ma mentions in her verse, among many other displays of lavish 2000s luxury. DJ Khaled - SUPPOSED TO BE LOVED Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Virgil Abloh Edition Known for his iconic luxury lifestyle, which of course includes an incredible collection of vehicles, DJ Khaled is seen in one of today's most exclusive luxury sedans in the video for "SUPPOSED TO BE LOVED," featuring Lil Baby, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert, the Mercedes-Maybach S 680 Virgil Abloh Edition, of which only 150 examples were made. Blu Cantrell - Breathe Mercedes-Benz SL 500 Another Blu Cantrell hit, "Hit 'Em Up Style (Oops!)" mentions a "Beamer" and features shots of the singer driving a BMW in its music video, which is ironic considering that interspersed with shots of a custom pale blue Mercedes-Benz SL 500 drifting and driving around in general are shots of a gauge cluster that appears to be from a BMW, no doubt chosen for the blue color that matches the monochromatic scheme seen in the video and the singer's own stage name. 3LW - No More (Baby I'ma Do Right) BMW X5 The teenage R&B girl group's 2000 debut single, "No More" had a music video shot in New York City, with each of its members, Naturi Naughton, Adrienne Bailon, and Kiely Williams, pulling up to a subway station in a BMW X5 to confront a cheating boyfriend. While the X5 is a staple in BMW's lineup now, the 2000 model year was its first, and in its vibrant blue color, with a beige interior that has blue contrast piping, the X5 looks quite luxurious. Solange - Almeda DMC DeLorean Solange Knowles, the younger sister of Beyoncé, is known for her avant-garde musical style and videos that match. You want a Maserati?" and "You want a Lamborghini?" and in the music video for the song, it's the Lamborghini Aventador, Lamborghini's last "pure" naturally aspirated V12 flagship supercar, that is prominently shown throughout. Aaliyah feat. Missy Elliott - Hot Like Fire (Timbaland's Groove Mix) Dodge Viper RT/10 Automotive enthusiasts know the Dodge Viper, in all of its generations, for being a unique iteration of all-American performance, with a massive V10 engine and the makings of a legendary sports car in terms of design. However, in the video for late R&B sensation Aaliyah's "Hot Like Fire," from her One in a Million sophomore album, the Viper is the most prominent of a few red cars that appear on the fire-themed set. The other cars in the video for the Timbaland-produced track include a Mercedes-Benz SL and a Hummer H1 Alpha. One of the most memorable parts, especially for car enthusiasts, is the De Tomaso Pantera she drives in the beginning. A Touch Of Class - Around The World (La La La La La) Melkus RS 1000 A cover of a Russian song, "Around The World" is one of those inescapable '90s dance tracks that, even if you can't name the artist, you probably know. Darude - Feel The Beat Dodge Viper RT/10 Another appearance of the Dodge Viper RT/10 comes from the artist who is more well-known for "Sandstorm." "Feel The Beat" sounds similar, but its video is certainly enhanced by the retrofuturistic grandeur of Dodge's legendary V10 sports car, especially with its unique '90s design in the first generation of the Viper. Missy Elliott - Lose Control Jeep Commander Featuring the legendary late Fatman Scoop and R&B songstress Ciara, "Lose Control" is an iconic 2005 single from Missy Elliott which samples '80s electro song "Clear" by Cybotron. In its music video, a line of dancers is flanked on one side by a Jeep Commander with custom wheels. By today's standards especially, the Commander certainly isn't a luxury or exotic car, but its customization and its short-lived existence in the Jeep lineup during the Daimler Chrysler era as a three-row companion to the Grand Cherokee at the time made it an interesting choice. Brandy - U Don't Know Me (Like U Used To) Volkswagen New Beetle Obviously, the Volkswagen Beetle isn't a particularly luxurious car, but its appearance in Brandy's music video during her incredibly successful Never Say Never era came in 1999, not long after the New Beetle was first introduced in 1997. The car was a novel, retro-futuristic reimagination of the legendary original Beetle, and it was previewed by Volkswagen's 1994 Concept One. In the video, a group of people who are all doing the same thing drive a fleet of black Volkswagen Beetles in the same place as part of their cycle, contributing to the Matrix-esque aesthetic of the set. Beyoncé - Party feat. J. Cole Bugatti Veyron Bugatti's groundbreaking W16 hypercar that changed the automotive industry and raised the bar for performance in the 21st century, the Veyron, made an appearance in the music video for Beyoncé's "Party," from her 2011 4 album. Olivia - Bizounce Bentley Azure Known for her feature appearance on 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" during her time with G-Unit, Olivia's 2001 debut album featured the single "Bizounce," a breakup anthem with a video that features shots of her singing from the driver's seat of a gorgeous Bentley Azure parked in a garage. Mary J. Blige - Be Without You Maybach 62 The iconic 2005 hit "Be Without You" from Blige's The Breakthrough came with an equally iconic music video, starring actor Terrence Howard alongside Mary J. Blige herself. During the bridge of the song, the video shows just a few shots of the "Queen of Hip-Hop Soul" exiting a vehicle to step onto a red carpet. Cristiano Ronaldo Finally Reveals His Car Collection

With over a billion followers across all of his social media accounts, Cristiano Ronaldo is widely recognized as the most famous person in the world, both on and off the field. And while soccer remains his passion and the reason behind his success, Ronaldo has also gained serious notoriety in the automotive world for owning one of the most impressive car collections ever. The internet has pieced together his fleet from a series of spottings and occasional delivery posts on his Instagram, but the entire collection has never been showcased until now. Cristiano Ronaldo just posted a gallery on his Instagram from his garage, which, to no surprise, is completely customized as a contemporary centerpiece of the home. Starting with what we know about Ronaldo and his love for hypercars, a trio of Bugattis set the stage, each on rotating display stands. The lineup includes the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse, his first Bugatti, the Chiron in his bespoke spec, and the $10 million Centodieci, the most expensive car in the garage. Before shifting the conversation to Italian Icona cars and U.K. hypercars, it's definitely worth mentioning that there’s a $5 million Mercedes-AMG ONE lurking in the corner, one of just 275 examples in the world. Jason Momoa’s New One-Off Bentley Blower Jnr Revealed

Actor and filmmaker Jason Momoa is well-known for his roles in Aquaman, A Minecraft Movie, and Fast X, however, the latest season of his HBO Max documentary series, On The Roam, shows his passion for the automotive world, featuring a visit to the Bicester atelier of Hedley Studios, where he began the process of a bespoke, one-off build that has now been revealed. Available now to watch on HBO Max, the latest On The Roam episode shows the beginning of Jason Momoa’s Hedley Studios configuration process. Eclipsing the beauty and luxury of bespoke craftsmanship, the one-off Bentley Blower Jnr created by Jason Momoa not only features unique touches, but also a personal story. The body color, called Momoa Crimson, was created specifically for the project, and is paired with aged brass details for a gorgeous patina that will develop over time. Meanwhile, the Koa wood that the dashboard is made from is an homage to Momoa’s native Hawaii, and the “666” on the radiator and number plate reference the “El Diablo” nickname of his grandfather. The vehicle also features a “Momoa 1 of 1” nameplate, a hand-carved brass skull drive selector that required 100 hours of work and originated from a solid block of brass, and the logo of On The Roam on the steering wheel. About the project, Hedley Studios founder Ben Hedley said, “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with Jason on this project. He had a really clear vision of what he wanted to integrate into the car to make it a true one-off and personal to him: the story of his grandfather, the antiqued brass finishes, the unique paint shade and the wooden dash from his place of birth. What stood out most was the sense of fun and energy Jason brought to the whole process. He was completely engaged with the team behind the build, and that made the project feel genuinely collaborative from the start. It’s been a real honour to help bring his vision to life.” The Bentley Blower Jnr by Hedley Studios is an 85% scale recreation of one of the most foundational historic Bentley models, the 1929 Bentley 4½ Litre Supercharged “Blower.” While it faithfully evokes the original Blower, it opts instead for a fully electric powertrain, a 15 kW electric motor specifically, and has 65 miles of range. Fully road legal in the US, UK, and EU, Jason Momoa’s new one-off Bentley Blower Jnr is a bespoke masterpiece that combines the best of new and classic automotive excellence.
