Two groundbreaking Corvette concept cars – the Corvette CX and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo – have made their debut at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, offering a glimpse into the future of America’s most celebrated performance brand. While neither is intended for production, both are set to inspire Corvette design language for years to come, blending more than 70 years of heritage with bold, forward-thinking innovation.
The Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo mark the final chapter in a series of design studies from Chevrolet this year, the result of a global GM design initiative. Developed at the Chevrolet Performance Studio in Warren, Michigan, these concepts embody the creative freedom of a no-limits design exercise.
“While the shape of a Corvette has always been expressive and forward-looking, each crease and line has its roots in the generations that came before it,” said Phil Zak, executive design director for Chevrolet. “The CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo demonstrate our design teams stepping away from the constraints of production vehicles and unleashing their creativity. Through this exercise, we’ve added to Corvette and defined the design direction for Corvette moving forward.”
Corvette CX Concept: An All-Electric, 2,000-HP Vision

The Corvette CX Concept reimagines the sports car for both street and track. Signature Corvette design cues — the forward-lunging nose, horizontal chine line, and dual-element taillights – are paired with futuristic proportions, a fighter-jet canopy, and active aerodynamics shaped with input from the GM Motorsports Aero Group.
Beneath the sculpted body, a revolutionary Vacuum Fan System and adjustable aero elements deliver massive downforce. Four electric motors, one at each wheel, produce over 2,000 horsepower with torque vectoring, while a 90-kWh battery ensures optimal weight distribution. The interior combines luxury and performance, with Inferno Red ballistic textiles, forged carbon fiber, and a digital windscreen display.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo: Racing Without Compromise

The CX.R VGT takes the CX platform and strips it for all-out racing performance. The familiar Corvette GT yellow-and-black livery wraps a lighter, lower chassis with extreme active aero. Inside, carbon fiber replaces luxury trim, and race-grade seating provides maximum driver support.
Power comes from a mid-mounted, twin-turbo V8 producing up to 900 horsepower at 15,000 rpm, running on renewable e-fuel. Three electric motors boost total output to 2,000 horsepower.
Both concepts will soon be drivable in Gran Turismo 7, allowing enthusiasts worldwide to virtually experience the boldest Corvette vision yet. With the track-record-breaking ZR1X now redefining production performance, and the CX concepts pointing toward an electrified, aero-obsessed future, Chevrolet is proving that Corvette’s next chapter will be every bit as bold as its legendary past.
