For more than three decades, the Goodwood Festival of Speed has been one of the automotive world's most celebrated events, bringing together everything from historic race cars and modern hypercars to legendary drivers and the biggest names in the industry. What began as a British hill climb has grown into a global celebration of car culture, attracting more than 200,000 enthusiasts each year. Now, for the first time, that unforgettable Goodwood experience is preparing to cross the Atlantic, launching the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America.

The inaugural event will be set for Fall 2028, with plans to host Goodwood’s first headline event outside the UK at Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, California. Since opening in 1953, Willow Springs Raceway has become one of the most iconic tracks in American motorsports, making it a fitting venue for Goodwood's first American venture.

"I am delighted to be launching the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America. For almost 30 years, the GRRC has been at the heart of everything we do at Goodwood—a wonderfully diverse community brought together by a shared passion for cars and motorsport of every genre. Bringing that spirit to the United States is not only a defining moment for us, but one we believe will resonate across the wider car culture world. " - The Duke of RichmondThe announcement of expanding the event stems from a shared love of motorsports between Goodwood and America, starting with the golden era of the 1950s and 60s, and the stars of American road racing who have participated in West Sussex. Founding members of the GRRC of America, including Jackie Stewart, Mario Andretti, and Richard Petty, have been chosen as the three racing legends who will help represent the event. While many of the event's details are still under wraps, anticipation is already building for what promises to be a historic moment in American automotive culture. Membership applications for the Goodwood Road Racing Club of America are set to open in January 2027, giving enthusiasts an early opportunity to become part of the community ahead of the inaugural event. With the first gathering scheduled for Fall 2028 at Willow Springs International Raceway, now is the time to start planning a trip to one of America's most historic racetracks as Goodwood begins its next chapter on U.S. soil.
