New Film Friday On Petrolicious: Chasing The Alpine Dream

Petrolicious, the creator of quality, original films and articles for classic car enthusiasts, has released its latest video, featuring automotive devotee Jürgen Claus who tracked down the car of his dreams, an original Alpine A110 rally car. After a couple of years away, the Petrolicious website and YouTube Channel has been recently rebooted by duPont REGISTRY Group, and new films are now dropping every Friday. Petrolicious celebrates the inventions, the personalities, and the aesthetics that ignite a collective lust for great automotive machines, and it seeks to inform, entertain, and inspire its community of aficionados and pique the interest of those who have been missing out. Today, Petrolicious takes up Claus’s story... In Stuttgart, two brands are king: Porsche and Mercedes. Their presence is ubiquitous, paved into the roads, the culture, and the very identity of the region. If you grew up there, you were supposed to pick a side and pledge allegiance to one of the two. Jürgen Claus grew up in Stuttgart but didn’t adhere to that conventional German wisdom. Something else had earned his attention. In flashes, glimpses, and a few stolen frames of life during rides on his bike, he would spot a car. It would streak past, barely there, and then gone, but each time, it gave Jürgen something to dream about. Before it was a legend, before it was the car that toppled giants, the A110 was a newly fleshed curiosity. The Alpine was born in Dieppe, France, in the early 1960s as Jean Rédélé’s vision of a “weight is king” sports car built for agility over brute force. He saw weight as the real enemy, believing that the right balance of power, size, handling, and simplicity would create something truly special. What the world ended up with was a fiberglass-bodied, rear-engined scalpel of a car, built on Renault underpinnings. It was compact, delicate looking, and deceptively quick. The A110 would eventually thrive where muscle cars faltered, becoming a Rally tool that affixed its name onto motorsport history. It won everywhere, on the Monte Carlo stages, in the Alps, on gravel, on tarmac. It was light, agile, and utterly unforgiving. In 1973, when the World Rally Championship was officially founded, it was the Alpine A110 that took the very first title, proving that more horsepower wasn’t always better. Other lightweight pioneers like the Lancia Stratos may never have been penned if it wasn’t for the A110. Jürgen’s search for his A110 took him deep into the unknown, pulling threads on rumors and whispers. Finding a regular Alpine in decent condition isn’t easy. Finding a works race car? Almost impossible. The world is full of lookalikes, tributes, and fiberglass imposters. True competition built A110s are ghosts. He eventually caught wind of a car that had supposedly been sold in Hungary, a real Alpine with real pedigree. There were no documents, no clear paper trail, just a lead. He did what anyone with an obsession this deep would do. He packed a backpack full of cash and hit the road. No guarantees, no promises. Beneath layers of questionable modifications, spoilers, turbochargers, intercoolers, there was something unmistakable. The plaques in the front trunk were still original. On them, the chassis number revealed the truth. The car was real. It didn’t matter that it looked nothing like it should. It didn’t matter that it would take years of work to bring it back. He wasn’t leaving without it. Jürgen spent years undoing the damage. Hours turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Sanding, welding, reshaping… dreaming. Obsessing. There were no blueprints, no factory records with detailed specs. The A110 wasn’t built with the obsessive precision of a Stuttgart engineer. It was built by French hands, refined through trial and error. Every reinforcement, every brace, every tweak was added as needed. Problems were solved on the spot, one by one with little documentation to follow. There were only 17 genuine versions of this car ever built, and that is in 1973. How many still existed? Just a handful of originals bobbing in a sea of replicas. Waiting to be discovered, and restored. “My name is Jürgen Claus,” he says, “and I fell in love with a queen. The queen of rallies.”

Petrolicious Is Back! All-New Car Culture Films Drop Ever...

Petrolicious, the creator of quality, original films and articles for classic car enthusiasts, is back! After a couple of years away, the website and YouTube Channel has been acquired and recently rebooted by duPont REGISTRY Group, and new films are now set to drop every Friday. Petrolicious celebrates the inventions, the personalities, and the aesthetics that ignite a collective lust for great automotive machines, and it seeks to inform, entertain, and inspire its community of aficionados and pique the interest of those who have been missing out.  About its return, the Petrolicious team writes: “It’s been a while, and a lot has changed—but a lot will always stay the same. To our community, thank you for sticking around. To our members, we're cooking up something special. There’s more to come, but for now, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.” The first story is this, " title="YouTube video" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" allowfullscreen> (watch the video down below). Petrolicious writer, Gabriel Ionica, takes up the story: The attraction to automobiles does not always pertain entirely to a physical quality. Sure, a car’s design, or its smell, or its sound can be part of that attraction, but a bigger part lies within something more abstract. If there was ever anyone who could relate to such an emotion, it would be Rob Simon. His steed of choice has been, and always will be, the legendary BMW E30 M3. In the automotive space, the legendary Bavarian warrior needs no introduction or backstory. It has long been heralded as one of the most exceptional machines ever sculpted by mankind, offering a pure driving experience unmarred by unnecessary aids or features. Despite a near-death experience in his red E30 M3, Rob always lusted for another one. It wasn’t just the behind-the-wheel time he longed for but the deeper, unspoken connection it wove between him, his father, and his brother, all of which had E30 M30s of their own. That chance would thankfully arise once more, but not in the way he would expect. Tune in to the Petrolicious YouTube channel or the embedded video and relive Rob Simon’s BMW E30 M3 tale alongside us.  Maybe bring some tissues along for the ride, too, because this story is an emotional one… Visit Petrolicious.com

The World's Top 25 Fastest 0-60 MPH Production Cars

Check out our list of the supercars and hypercars that run 0 to 60 mph the fastest in the world. Acceleration is undoubtedly one of the most exciting factors that a car brings. Here we would like to make it clear that the fastest car in the world and the quickest car in the world are two different terminologies. In the last decade, many cars have been launched with the capability to deliver 0-60 mph in under 3 seconds. In fact, this 0 to 60 time has become almost commonplace, especially when it comes to the uppermost echelon of the fastest accelerating cars in the world. 0-60 has been known as the gold standard the car manufacturing companies use to measure the performance of their cars but it seems that those days may be coming to an end. Maybe we'll move on to the fastest 0 to 124 mph or fastest quarter mile times. It’s important to note that achieving the fastest top speed is easier than being the fastest car from 0 to 60 mph. That’s because a huge engine plays the most important role when it comes to top speed. On the other hand, maximizing traction and putting the power down immediately is hard. Automotive engineers and experts constantly work on advanced electronics, lightweight materials, tire compounds, and high-performance technologies to achieve faster acceleration than ever. Here we’ve gathered together the 25 fastest 0-60 mph production cars of all time. Keep in mind that our list of the fastest 0-60 cars is exclusive to street-legal cars, which are also considered production vehicles. Introducing the duPont REGISTRY Driver's Playlist: Share ...

There's nothing quite like the open road, the thrill of the drive, and the perfect song to set the mood. At duPont REGISTRY, we understand that driving isn't just about getting from point A to point B—it's about the experience, the journey, and the soundtrack that accompanies every mile. That's why we're excited to announce our latest initiative: the duPont REGISTRY Driver's Playlist. Share Your Driving Favorites We're calling on our readers and car enthusiasts to help us curate the ultimate driving playlist. Whether you're cruising down the coast in a convertible or taking a scenic mountain drive in your supercar, we want to know what songs make your journey unforgettable. Here's how you can participate: Submit Your Favorite Song: Think about the one track that perfectly encapsulates the joy of driving. Is it a classic rock anthem, a modern pop hit, or perhaps an instrumental masterpiece? Tell Us About Your Ride: What car are you driving when you crank up that tune? Share the make and model that elevates your driving experience. Describe Your Favorite Road: From winding mountain roads to endless highways, tell us about the roads you love to travel. Where do you find the most joy behind the wheel? How It Works Fill out the form below with your name, email, song, car, and road preferences. We'll collect submissions and select standout entries to feature in our official duPont REGISTRY Driver's Playlist. This playlist will be available for all our readers to enjoy, whether they're behind the wheel or dreaming of their next adventure. Why Your Input Matters At duPont REGISTRY, we're passionate about creating a community of car lovers who appreciate the finer things in life. Your input will help us build a playlist that reflects the diverse tastes and experiences of our readers. Whether you drive a luxurious sedan, a high-performance sports car, or a vintage classic, your voice matters. Join Us on This Musical Journey We believe that the perfect soundtrack can elevate any drive, turning it into a memorable experience. By contributing to our Driver's Playlist, you'll be part of a community that celebrates the art of driving and the music that moves us. So, what are you waiting for? Share your favorite driving song, tell us about your ride, and let us know where you love to drive. Together, let's create a playlist that captures the essence of the open road. We've already compiled our own playlist for August, using picks from our own employees, which you can listen to by clicking the button below.
