Some sports cars are engineered to deliver race-derived performance while still looking and feeling like something you could drive every day. BAC (Briggs Automotive Company) takes a different approach, building its flagship Mono around the idea of a road-legal race car, right down to its single-seat, open-wheel layout. And while crossing paths with one in the wild is rare in itself, finding a completed build on the market is next to impossible. The team at Limited Spec of Miami, FL, is proud to showcase this 2023 BAC Mono Roadster as part of its extensive inventory of exotics for sale on duPont REGISTRY. From the outside, the Mono is definitely unmistakable. This example is finished in white and red with exposed matte carbon fiber aero, with the bodywork wrapped tightly around the car’s mechanics. The open front end exposes the suspension, while the compact body and single-seat layout give it the proportions of something built for a circuit. This particular Mono Roadster has also covered just 835 miles. The same idea carries into the cockpit, where there really isn’t much beyond what the driver needs. The single seat sits in the center of the car, surrounded by carbon fiber and a compact arrangement of controls and displays. There’s no passenger seat, center console, or unnecessary trim taking up space, which is pretty much the point. Everything is positioned around the person behind the wheel, giving the Mono a cockpit that feels much closer to a race car than any daily driver on the road.Power comes from a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder engine mounted behind the driver. It produces around 315 horsepower and sends that power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox. BAC also uses a dry-sump lubrication system and individual throttle bodies, while the car's low weight is arguably just as important as its power output. At roughly 1,257 pounds, the Mono doesn't need a huge engine to move quickly. That combination puts the 2023 BAC Mono in a fairly unusual place among the modern performance car market. It can reach 60 mph in around 2.7 seconds, but its appeal isn't really about chasing the biggest horsepower figure. The low weight, central driving position, open cockpit, and relatively simple mechanical layout are what separate it from most of the cars you'll find in the supercar section of the classifieds. And with less than a thousand miles on this example, the Mono currently listed on duPont REGISTRY has spent considerably more time sitting still than most likely ever will.
