Ford Performance is gearing up to take on the grueling 56th annual SCORE Baja 1000, renowned as one of the world's most difficult off-road competitive races. With the high-performance Bronco Raptor and the ultra-capable F-150 Raptor R, Ford is set to prove the adventurous expertise of these stock-based race vehicles on the rugged terrain of Baja California. Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Motorsports at Ford Performance, views the Baja 1000 as a rigorous test bed for vehicle development, pushing both the Bronco Raptor and F-150 Raptor R to their limits. This year's race promises to be historic, starting from La Paz for the first time in its 56-year legacy and covering the longest course ever to Ensenada, Mexico, commemorating 50 years of desert racing.
The Bronco Raptor will compete in the Stock Mid-Size class, while the F-150 Raptor R will take on the Stock Full class, each following a daunting 1,200-mile sportsman route. These Raptors are equipped with race-specific modifications for performance and safety in compliance with SCORE regulations. The 2024 F-150 Raptor R boasts a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine with over 700 horsepower, while the 2024 Bronco Raptor features a robust 418 horsepower 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine. Both are fitted with custom FOX shocks, springs tailored for Baja's challenges, safety cages, fuel cells, LED lighting for nighttime racing, and Method Wheels.
Piloting the Bronco Raptor are seasoned drivers, including past Baja 1000 champions, who will showcase the vehicle's capabilities under extreme conditions. Meanwhile, the F-150 Raptor is entrusted to a team of decorated champions, ready to demonstrate the next-gen Raptor's off-road prowess.
